50 point add on at new resort

I just wanted to verify my understanding of this. We currently have a decent size contract at SSR and IF a new DVC property were to be announced at either AKL or DL we would probably like to do a 50 point add on. If we did add on, we would be able to use some of our points from our SSR contract on our AKL/DL contract correct? We would just be able to utilize the 11 month window correct?

Thanks for the clarification in advance. I'm REALLY hoping for a DL DVC!!! It's a year of a million dreams right???

No, I believe you would only be able to use the 50 points of the new contract, and any banked or borrowed points from the new contract, to make an 11 mo. reservation at the new resort.

We just did a 50 point add-on, and I decided to do it at SSR instead of at an upcoming resort. I would rather have the points all at one resort since we rarely book 11 months out anyway, and if we did, it would probably be for a GV over a holiday, so by keeping all my points at SSR, I'd be more likely to have enough points to book the GV at SSR over a peak time.

As I understand it, you can use the amount of points you have for any home resort to book at the 11 month window. So if you have 50 points at "New Resort" you can book up to 50 points worth of nights at the 11 month window (plus any banked or borrowed points). Your SSR resort points can only be used to book SSR at the 11 month window. So, you would be best off to book the 11 month window at New Resort and then if you need more nights book at SSR. When the 7 month window opens add at New Resort and then cancel the SSR reservation.

Of course this won't work so well if your add on is at a New Resort at DLR! LOL

Oooh ok. Hmm. Well I guess here's hoping that 50 would get me 3 or 4 nights at the hypothetical DL DVC.

Just use the current year and borrow from the next year and you'd have 100 points to use. And if you could bank the current year now, then you could have up to 150 points to use at 11 months.
