I sailed on the December 1 Wonder. Before I left, I followed the advise on this forum and called with the code to get the $50 onboard credit for first time cruisers. I was told when I called that I would receive this credit. While on the cruise, I took into consideration the extra $50 and spent more than I budgeted. When I received my statement the $50 wasn't on there. I went to Guest Services and they said they had to check with the mainland and gave me a reservation number to check when I went home. I called and I was told that I didn't qualify for the $50 credit. This really upsets me because I was told I would receive it and I spent it! Have any advice? Thanks!

By the way the cruise was my first and it was incredible!

Hi there,

Did you happen to make a note of the cast member you spoke with? I would call back and explain that you were told the $50 had been applied and you figured that into your budget. If that person can't help you, then I would politely ask to speak with the next person higher up. Disney is usually good with customer service, and if you are polite but firm you might get the credit. Even if you didn't qualify it's not your fault that the CM was misinformed. IMHO, if you are told you are getting the credit, you should get it.

BTW, did they say why you didn't qualify?

Glad to hear you enjoyed your cruise!

They said that I had received a discount on the cruise and that the $50 offer was only available with no other discounts. I plan to call over the weekend. Thanks!

i know that when i booked through AAA for my first disney cruise, we got a discount and a shipboard credit, so i was told that we were not eligible for the first time cruise credit of 50, since AAA had provided a shipboard credit.

Hi Carol,
Did you have any other onboard credits such as the Disney Club one? If so, as prymsu said, it is not combinable with other credits. If that was not the case, I would e-mail Guest Services at dcl.guest.communications@disneycruise.com

Hope that helps.
Cathy

Cathy,
No, I hadn't received any other onboard credits, just a discount on my cruise package. I followed your advise and emailed them today. I'll keep y'all posted! Thanks for the support! Caroline

We just booked for a 3-night on the Wonder in February at a Florida Resident Rate. My TA also said that we wouldn't be able to apply the REF code (as per DCL) because we are already using one "promotion". Has anyone else had that problem? I was hoping to be able to get the onboard credit!

On our last sailing I expected a credit on my account and found out the last day I was un-eligible to receive it. When I originally booked the cruise it was on there but then the Florida Resident rate was applied. I was not aware that the credit had been removed and learned the hard way after I spent it. So you are not the only one and I would just forget about it instead of getting frustrated about it as I almost did.
The cruise we are planning in Feb 13 2003 we are taking our best friends along with us (they have never been-we are paying for them thus we can't afford separate cabins) I asked the DCL rep about a 1st timer cruiser credit for my friends when I booked and they told me it was applied to my reservation. Later after my parents decided to go with us also (separate room) my Mom has been but my Dad has not... I tried to get the 1st time cruiser credit applied and the DCL rep told me we could't have it because of my mom being a repeat cruiser gets the castaway club (gift and reception). I told the rep it was on my room and she checked it and told it me was not (should have kept my mouth shut) but I would almost be it wouldn't have been on my room account anyway!!!
***Big Hint*** Here is what we did and you can also.....
Switch your res over to Dreams Unlimited and you may qualify for a credit which can be applied to your final payent or a check mailed to you after your sailing. When I switched my booking over to Dreams the rep notified my of a price decrease (what company ever does that!!!!) I saved $340.00 Bottom line you are better off.
