50% Borrowing Restrictions Easing?

This morning I saw a FB post about Member Services confirming to someone that they will begin easing the 50% borrowing restrictions on a case by case basis starting today, and possibly further easing this restriction after June. Anyone hearing this from MS?

DVC instated a 50% borrowing rule to help with the excess of points in the system. It was CONFIRMED by DVC Member Services today, May 24, that this rule is still in effect through June, BUT it will be on a case by case basis if you can borrow more! This is great news! The back log of points is easing, and people will be able to vacation with DVC like they love.

Because with all rules, they can make exceptions in case by case like they do with late banking, waiving holding, extra.

They've been quietly making exceptions for some time now. It will be good to have an official announcement, but maybe they do not want to do that until the booking engine is updated. Hoping the removal of the restrictions will get rid of the online borrowing issues a lot of the resale (and some direct) Members have been experiencing.

I hope they fix the borrowing issues as well. I hope they announce the policy update soon.

I own resale and direct with my direct contract working with borrowing, while my resale does not allow it.

They allowed me to borrow 16 extra SSR points recently. I called in, they put me on hold for a while, and then said they would allow the one-time exception. I was booking at SSR, so maybe that went into the decision to allow--don't think there's a shortage of SSR units available.

I'm not trying to disparage anyone's information but "confirmed by Member Services" is an oxymoron if ever there was one. The last time MS "confirmed" anything of significance, it was April 13 when they insisted that the Cosmic Rewind preview registration absolutely would not take place on April 14. (It did)

MS has been quietly allowing borrowing exceptions for months now. It is certainly worthwhile to ask. Did anything actually change in the last 24 hours?

This makes sense, the extended banking provision given to international owners will be coming to an end and will no longer be a problem.

I got an exception this morning on the phone. I told her I needed to buy 12 one time use points to add the last night to my desired December stay at the Poly. I also said I wish I could use the points that I had instead of $200+ dollars. She asked if I had been granted an exception before and put me on hold for 20 minutes. She came back and was told that my request was granted to borrow them and when I looked they were gone from my dashboard. I should have only been able to borrow 125 of my 250 points but was allowed to borrow 137 points in total.

We also received an exception today. Wanted to extend a reservation and needed to borrow more points. We had reached our borrow limit on our SSR contract, and MS wanted to borrow from our VGF contract, but we told them we were saving those VGF points for another trip and preferred to borrow from the SSR contract, which she got approved.

I have enquired of MS a couple of times whether there was any possibility of letting me borrow just a few points to extend a reservation (I hinted, I lamented, I mused without coming right out and asking) but on both occasions, there was no budging.
The reservation was even for a studio at VGF which is showing tons of availability.
The weird thing is that the website seems to be allowing me to borrow these points myself, which I'm almost positive that I've not been able to do before. I can't tell if this is a new functionality or if this was always the way when trying to borrow over the 50% amount?
I haven't had the guts to actually do it either as I'm aware of the threat that's stated that a reservation will just be cancelled 7 days later and I'm scared I'd lose the points outright.
Has anyone had one of their reservations cancelled that used overborrowed points?
