So, got a question: As September will be the first time we are going to AKV as DVC members, I am new to the whole check-in process. My wife, sone and myself will be getting in early afternoon, and our 2 friends will be there that same night, like 830, 9ish, something like that. My question is this. As my wife and I are the DVC owners, and we made the trip, do we have to check them in and meet them when they get in, or do we check just us (me, wife, son) in and they check in when they get there and get their own KTTW cards? I tried searching, didn't come up with too much on the subject. Thanks!!

What kind of accomodations did you get? If you got studios, did you make your friends' reservation in their name or yours?

Sorry, knew I forgot something. We have a 2 bdr, savanah view, in my name.

Thanks.

Hi: If their names are listed on the reservation, they can check themselves in when they get there. Just make sure you've let MS know who is going to be in the villa. We've had people check in/out midway through our vacation on several trips.

Do you know if they will get their own KTTWs?

When you check-in. You can either take all the keys and just call them with what room to head to or you can hand the CM back the keys, and tell them "Bob and Sally will be hear later, can you hold on to these till they get here?" And they will put the keys in an envelope, and stash them (there is some system) and put a note on the room/account.

Either way to get them keys, they need to be added to the reservation. Everyone over the age of 3 (I think) has to be on the reservation. I believe only people over 18-21 can check-in.

We've done this several times. Normally we figure out what works the day of. Since it seems like airlines like to play havoc with your plans.

Thanks for all the quick responses. I think that answers my questions!

I wanted to add a couple things to the above comments!

If you have a Dinning Plan, everyone will have to be paid in full before any credits can be used. (All 5 members have to have paid.)

Only one credit card can be put on a 2br villa. We always make our guests KTTW cards no charging privilages, but that is up to you if you want to give them privilages then you could go to the desk BEFORE midnight THE DAY BEFORE you check out to have things moved to another card. Once it is the day of check out, all charges will be on the card you left.

We take friends almost every trip we make, so we are old pro's at it! Hope you have a great trip!

Thanks for the tips! Hmmm, may have to figure out the Dinning Plan part, though I am not too worried about it. The room charging card isn't a big deal, though something we need to talk about. Again, thanks!

For the dining plan, they can either pay you for it prior to the trip, or when you check-in you could put it all on your charge card and they could put cash on your room account or give you the cash after they arrive.

I think only one person "checks in."That person assumes responsiblity for any incidental charges with a credit card.
All the others are "guests" of the person who reserved the room.Unless you have separate rooms.
So you can either get the keys for all in your party and arrange with your party on how to get them the key.
Or you can tell the front desk that others in your party will be joining and they can get the keys from the desk.
Having thier luggage bought to the room is not a problem.
We have done this several times over the years.
Also names can be changed easliy if mebers of your party change.
This can also be done over the course of a stay as your gurests come and go.

So, if we get the keys for our friends, do they need to check in still, or can they come right up to the room?

they come to your room - but unless you are going to be there - would leave their keys at the front desk.

they are not really checking in - they are just picking up their room keys.

unless you can guaranteed that you will be in your room when they arrive

OK, great, thanks for all the help!

I'll just be glad when we get there.

September is SSOOOOOO far away....
