We're arriving Friday, 1/21 late at night and after a night off-site, will be checking into POR for 7 nights. Our last day, Saturday, 1/29 we leave Orlando in the morning. We had planned to spend our first day at the beach on the Gulf coast and then one day at Sea World. This is my 12-year-old ds's first trip since he was 5 and our 9-year-old ds's and dd's first trip period. We were planning on getting 5-day PH MYW passes for everyone. I have already ordered Disney Quest tickets.

Any thoughts? Do you think the kids will end up disappointed only having 5 days in the parks? Should we cancel the beach given that the weather may be lousy? Should we make it easier on ourselves and spend the extra day around Orlando doing mini-golf, swimming, etc., or should we just buy 6-day passes?

I wouldn't count on a beach day this time of year. There is only a few dollars diff between 5 and 6 day passes. I would just order them, if you don't use them it is not big deal.

The weather may be nice, but the water will be freezing. I mean cold. My kids that are crazy about the beach wouldn't get in when we went in December. K can't imagine what the water is like now. I would skip the beach this time of year. The difference is tickets from a 5 or 6 day is so little that it would be worth an extra day even if it doesn't end up being a full day. We are going for a week and buying 7 day tickets because the little difference in price from a 5 to 7 day is so small. We figure even if the kids just hang around the pool for the majority of one day, we can still hop over in the evening and catch the fireworks or ride some rides just for a few hours.

We got back last month from 5 nights at WDW and one week in Daytona beach. Having the second week at the beach was so great, after running around WDW for 6 days. The water was freezing but we couldn't keep our kids (4 and 7) out of it. I would never do WDW again without having several days at the beach to relax.

Question:
What beach are you planning on?
We were on the Atlantic this trip but would love to stay on the gulf next time.

Any info would be appreciated.
