That is what we are supposed to get tonight/tomorrow. Holy crap that is a lot of rain! We need rain but not all at once!

What are you supposed to get?

We got a lottttt of rain yesterday. It was the PERFECT day for water to find a way into the house, run down (I guess) the stove hood's vent, and drip onto my stove. Destroyed the cupboard in the process. And goodness knows what it looks like up in the attic. OMG we are screwed.

Good luck with that, wvjules. If you have a basement, I would suggest picking things up off the floor. When we got a lot of rain last month, basements were flooding and it wasn't because they were near rivers...it was just seeping in from the ground.

We're to the Northwest of Philly and are looking at about 3" when all is said and done Friday morning.

We get a small waterfall coming down from our basement's outside entrance, so we'll just make sure everything is picked up and all will be good. Usually the french drains can handle it, but if it all comes at once the trenches can get backed up.

Better get some rain shoes for your horses.

We got 5" of rain this past Thursday/Friday and we were on the low end-parts of the state got over 10". There is some pretty serious flooding going on in MN right now, many major roads are closed/washed out, etc.

Wow - I'll have to check the report for here up in Harford Cty. I hope its not too bad. I have to bring my hurt dog to a specialist in Towson tom. and I hate the beltway.

We were at a festival in WI last weekend after they got 8" of rain of Thursday. What a mess!

Roads that we easily drove on Sat afternoon were completely under water by Sun morning. The WI River has so much water in it that they had to evacuate the town of Portage because they were afraid that a levee was going to break. I have pictures of from below the dam in the WI Dells that I took Mon. I'll see if I can figure out how to post them.

We'll keep you in our prayers!

I wish it were snow! I was in heaven during those three blizards and being stranded at home for a week. :thumbsup2 How much snow is the equivilant of 5" of rain?

I don't have an underground basement. I live in a 3 level TH. Level 1 is the entrance, garage, laundry room and finished basement with a door to the back patio. That should be fine since it isn't underground.

Tomorrow should be interesting.

Generally people ballpark it about 12:1 or 10:1 (snow to liquid), however various atmospheric circumstances can raise it as high as 18:1 or as low as 5:1, so it really depends.

As I said, though, rule of thumb would say 5" of rain is about 4.5' to 5' of snow.

According to the weather channel site 3-5 inches here as well. Seems like its always the same thing these days. Can't have a normal day of rain anymore:confused3 Its either sunny and gorgeous(albeit hot) or raining hard enough to start flash flooding. Been that way ever since the Nor Easter last Nov.

I know we needed the rain but my dog HATES to go out in this stuff. Its ridiculous.:sad2:

We got just over 2 1/2 inches on Sun/Mon. And boy did we need it. None of it was real heavy downpours either which is perfect. It's raining now, and by the end of it we're supposed to get anywhere from 3-6 inches. I'm betting it's on the low side.

We got over 10 inches just on Monday! It has been raining steadily since then, but not quite as hard. Supposed to pick back up overnight and be even worse in the morning. Everything in town is cancelled for tonight, and schools are all on delays tomorrow. Crazy rain!

we have the storm passing thru today so not sure but a lot, my dbf said the beach streets were flooded already.

YIKES, that sure is allot of rain!!!!

Send some to Southern California ... last time I saw rain was in March (I think).

We could use a rainfall or two every now and then. :thumbsup2

I think this just goes to show how slow the postal service really is. We've been sending requests out to Mother Nature all summer for a little rain and they all just flooded into her at once:rotfl2:

The rain (ok sprinkles) has started already. I thought it wasn't supposed to get here until tonight? :confused3
