5 nights Magic or 7 nights Fantasy???

Our very first cruise was 5-nt Western on Magic. We decided to try Fantasy next and choose Eastern with SWDAS. DH and I much preferred Magic. The 5 night didn't really feel that much shorter, maybe having 2 sea days helped. For our next cruise, we really wanted Magic again or try Wonder. The Magic sailings didn't match up with the dates we needed. We almost settled on 5 nt Baja on Wonder but after researching the ports, we opted against. We are doing Fantasy Eastern again but this time hope to get to Tortola.

So, to answer your question- I'd pick Magic.

Who is sailing? Kids?
We have a 13 year old and 17 year old. They love the clubs on Fantasy/Dream, not sure how the Magic will be. We love the Fantasy but we feel we need something new to see and experience. But 7 nights is what we want also...

If your teens like the clubs on the Fantasy, I would not sail on the Magic. I don’t think the clubs on the Classics can compare. I don’t know about you, but when my teens aren’t happy, then no one is happy! (Kidding. Sort of) Our friends said their kids never wanted the classics again after sailing on the Fantasy. Most of the people here giving you their opinion are adults. I am just trying to share what I have heard from a teen point of view.

Good luck with your decision! Being able to sail is a blessing for sure, we are all so fortunate no matter which ship we are on!

Just an opposing view my daughter who is 13 had an absolute blast on the Magic with their clubs and was allowed to go in both Vibe and Edge. She still communicates with several of them. But I really think for teens it's not so much the club itself but who the kids meet onboard and how they all get along. She didn't have that connection with kids on the Fantasy or Dream.

This is good input, thanks for sharing.

Maybe have a family meeting and discuss all pros and cons and then decide. We did that very thing for our cruise last Oct. Having sailed twice on the Wonder, I really wanted the Fantasy. Our other choice was sailing from NYC on the Magic. Everyone else really wanted to visit NYC before the cruise so they voted for another classic ship so that we could experience NYC.

Getting everyone’s buy-in was valuable for our family. Again, good luck to you!

Here's another choice, do a B2B on the Magic.
That’s what we did last January. Five night Western Caribbean (with stops in Cozumel and CC with two sea days) followed by five night Bahamas (with stops in Key West, Nassau, and CC with one sea day). Otherwise, we avoid cruises shorter than seven nights.
