5 Major airlines won't charge for carry on bags

Unlike Spirit Airlines which started charging for carry on bags that are stored in the overhead compartment, 5 major airlines have promised they will not charge for carry on bags that are stored in the overhead compartment.

They are: United, American, Delta, Jet Blue and US Airways

Of course, Southwest Airlines need not be included in this list since they do not charge for carry on OR for the first two checked bags.

Now, the big question is, will Spirit drop the fee given the above airlines have announced they won't charge for carry on bags?
