Any suggestions? I am connecting from YOW, in Terminal 1. I expect to go through customs at Pearson, but it's not going to take that long!

Is there a Maple Leaf lounge in Terminal 1? Something else?

There is, but they serve salads and soups - no real food. And alcohol, of course. So you may want to consider getting something more substantial down in the terminal before heading up.

You can take the LINK train back and forth between the terminals .... Terminal 1 is extremely BORING! mind you it is just an airport :P When i picked up the hubby a few weeks ago they had a couple of dinos on display ...

Since you're arriving from YOW (domestic) and changing to US (pre-clear customs in YYZ), you do have quite a bit of time to "enjoy the sights" of YYZ :crazy2: Plan to be going through to the US side at least 2 hours before your flight, to give you lots of time in case customs and/or security is backed up.

That said, there still isn't a whole lot to see....but I like the suggestion of taking the train over to T3. It's like the monorail at WDW (kinda?)!

Sometimes being settled at the gate or in a MLL well before departure is wise....time to relax and build the anticipation of the trip!

Enjoy!

Just a thought. Not sure if you live in the Ottawa area, but if you have a Presto card and you don't mind paying $38 round trip pp, you could take the UP Express down to Union Station and go to the Hockey Hall of Fame or the Aquarium for a few hours.

Why would you have a 5-hour layover coming from YOW? AC "Rapidair" (do they still call it that?) flights leave hourly from 7am to 10pm. Can't you just book a later flight?

When travelling for business, we often swap flights.

Booked through Aeroplan, on points. Enough said. And, honestly, in this case I don't really mind much. I am of the mindset that if I have to book a connecting flight through To., more connecting time is better than not enough.

I agree. Especially in the winter months. I'd rather be relaxing in the TO airport knowing I'm there for my connecting flight than back home worrying if we will make the connection because of a delay.

Not recommended, I dont think you have enough time.
Unfortunatly your in the zone of not enough time to get out of airport, and too much time to sit around.
Just keep the wifi plugged in find a quite spot and chill.

Is there still a viewing area in a the terminal where you can watch the planes land and take off? Spent hours there in my youth.

I agree...not enough time to leave.

I would suggest loading a movie(or 2) to watch on what ever device you may have. That coupled with a walk around and a meal should nicely fill most of that 5 hours.
