Just HAD to get out of Connecticut and away from this long, long, cold, miserable winter in New England. So, went to Disney and hit 42 degree weather. Oh, well, we were at Disney!
This trip (3/28 - 4/2) was only booked 2 1/2 weeks before. So many things were up in the air, between responsibilities at my job and DH's recuperation from his 2nd rotator cuff surgery in 7 months. We wanted to arrive on 3/25, but there were no Studio or 1 BR's available at any of the resorts until 3/28. We had a choice of VWL (our home) and OKW and had a terrible time deciding. There are so many things we love about both. Finally decided on a 1 BR @VWL because we love the beach, renting boats for Bay Lake, and we're guaranteed to be close to a pool.
We consider ourselves very, very fortunate to get a pool/lake view room, booking so late. I'm convinced that it was because we arrived on a Friday and someone had just checked out -- pure luck. When I asked if there was a choice of rooms (knowing the resort was almost full), the CM said the room had been pre-assigned. We'd already decided that almost any room would be great, so the location was a big bonus.
The room was very clean and well stocked. There was some wear on the table and chairs, but everything else was in great shape. We bought bleach to clean the jacuzzi, but the water seemed very clean (no sign of the brown scum I saw on a previous visit when I turned on the jets).
Unfortunately, we were there for the cold front that moved in, but at least that day was sunny. DH just had to buy a Disney jacket and long sleeved shirt, to ward off the 25 mph wind and the cold, as if he needed an excuse.
It was difficult to tell how busy the parks were because we didn't spend much time there. MK was pretty busy by Sat. noon, with 45 minute waits, but Epcot was quiet Monday eve and Tuesday afternoon. MGM was busy late in the day, but it was EE.
This was a pretty quiet trip. We were both tired out and loved the fact that we are SO comfortable at Disney and know our way around so well that there's no stress about how to get places. Enjoyed two dinners at Olivia's (we really missed being able to stay there, so we dropped in many times!). What a 'luxury problem' ---- to have to decide between two wonderful resorts.
DH tried desperately to talk me into staying on a few more days, since the weather was warming up again. It was so tempting, but the conservative side of me won out. He's convinced we need to go back in October and stay a week, so that will give him something to dream about!
