Well, I'm a nervous wreck about finishing the Princess 1/2 Marathon! My DD and I have been training but not sure about all of this. My longest and last long run was this past Saturday. I did 10 miles on the treadmill because the weather outside was not cooperating.

We have had to train all winter on the treadmill because of the bad weather we've had. Only a couple of days outside and that was just in the last week or so. I do think it is harder to run outside than on the treadmill.

I did 10 miles in 2.21. That does not count the 2 quick bathroom breaks I had to take! My DH says I will be fine. My emotions are all over the place. One day I'm fine and know I can finish, the next day I'm not so sure!

What is the official time you have to finish in? I thought I read on the Run Disney website that it was 3.45 but can't seem to find that anymore.

I don't want to be SWEPT!!

Run, Princess, Run!!!:cheer2:

From the looks of it you will be just fine  I know that nasty weather we've all had this winter sure doesn't help us to feel calm in moments like this. Hang in there and have the best time ever!!!

Positive thoughts!!!! :wizard: Enjoy the weekend!!! Smile!!!! Lots of cameras ;)

First....breathe deeply and try to relax (don't you hate people saying that :) ) Your TM time equates to around 14 minutes/mile and the required pace time is 16 min/mile after the last person crosses the start time. So you have a cushion.

Plus, don't sweat that you did your training on a TM. I do 2 out of 3 weekly runs on a TM. Yes it's different than running on the road, but on the plus side, it's been easier on your body.

Finally, race pace is always greater than training pace. It's a universal constant (who knows why). You will be amped up from being in the race, and all the excitement will keep you going. Just make sure you start out close to the pace you want to maintain and not too fast.

You can do this!

if it makes you feel any better, i was in the same boat for a half marathon i just finished down south - it was so cold and snowy up here, i was stuck on the treadmill for at least 90 percent of the training. and i ended up with a much unexpected PR.

have faith in your training - 10 miles is 10 miles whether the road, the trail, the mill or the track. it's perfectly normal to have some pre-race jitters. be aware of those anxious feelings, and use the nervous energy to propel you through the race. think of the race as a victory lap to celebrate all the hard work you've been in through your months of training and your new level of fitness.

good luck, and have a great race!!

You should do fine. Last year we also had a tough winter and I trained a friend who was a half marathon newbie by doing all of our long walks in the local mall.

Also for the Disney races you have the advantage of the crowds cheering you along and keeping you going even when you are feeling tired and wiped out.

I totally understand how you feel. I was a nervous wreck before my first 1/2 marathon, and I was injured to boot. Just enjoy running at Disney, and forget about the sweepers. Based on your time for your 10 mile run, they won't be anywhere near you!

I did all of my training for last year's Princess Half on the treadmill. I was so nervous about being outdoors and about my pacing - I knew I'd trained faster than the sweep pace, but didn't know what to do without my treadmill. I found everything easier than I anticipated once at the race. I found running outside easier than treadmill, and pacing wasn't that difficult either. I had a cheap sport watch from Target. I hit start when my corral went, and at each mile marker I could look at my watch to make sure I was on pace.

You've done all your training - now go enjoy running like a princess! :cheer2:

You will be fine. At least one Olympic qualifier (Christine Clark) did almost all of her training (for the marathon) on a treadmill. She lived in Alaska, which does explain some pretty heavy treadmill usage.
