My 8 year old son and I stayed at WL for 5 days -- July 2 through July 6. Booked standard for $139 a night, decided to upgrade to concierge for an extra $70 a night. In hindsight, this was a MISTAKE and I wish I had saved the money and spent it on a nice meal each day. John and I were rarely at the lodge for snacks, and when we were, we just don't eat much at all. I asked the concierges to make PS a few times, and they did in a speedy fashion, but could have done it myself with no problems. The food, as you all know, is set out in the hall, and I totally felt like I was at a motel having my complimentary continental breakfast. I like the food to be in a room, with a couch, and a big tv for the kids to watch, because then people hang out and chat -- here, people usually took the stuff back to their room. For a big family, who are planning on spending a lot of time at the hotel and who have lots of special requests, concierge would be great -- for someone like us (small family, small eaters, at the parks a lot) it didn't make a lot of sense. Live and learn.

But we did love the WL, it's gorgeous, the staff members were super nice, and my son got to swim with the ducks in the pool our last morning -- we went down to the pool at 7 a.m. and there were three ducks there and John just jumped in and hung out with them. I think that was about his favorite part of the trip. During afternoons, the pool was crowded, but we were always able to find a chair.

The hot tubs were not hot -- kind of gross -- they were like this last year so I guess that is just the way the hotel keeps them.

The transportation was great -- hardly any waiting expect for Blizzard Beach and boat back to WL after Disney firewords on the 4th (no suprise there).

All in all, I would give the WL a big thumbs up and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Since this was our third stay, we're going to try a different resort next year (hopefuly the Poly) but I'm sure we'll be back again.

:D

Wolfelaw,
My question is how did you score WL for $139 a night???

I too was annoyed about the temp of the hot tubs last visit. One was a lot hotter than the other. I'm wondering if one is cooler for smaller kids?

Thanks for your post!

We're getting ready to go to WL and looking forward to it...thanks for sharing!
