Luckily it was raining all morning Thursday, May 1, so it was easier to leave. After last minute shopping on the Concourse we headed to the airport around 10:45.

Forgot to mention I say Michael Eisner at the Contemprorary - I think on April 29th !

This was a great vacation! Couple of things I walked away with:

The Contemporary Tower is fantastic. Most convenient, best view, least walking. Highly recommend it. The rooms and building were in great shape. I walked down through the side buildings and was not too impressed - they looked pretty shabby(marks on walls and carpeting) and there were some pretty hefty hikes to the main building. My thought process was we'd be walking so much in the parks, I didn't want to do anymore than I had to in the hotel.

Staying on the monorail is a definite if you plan on spending most of the time in the Magic Kingdom like we did. Quick getting back to the room for a break and then back to the park - worth the price!

Staying on-site is the best! Our room wasn't cheap, but well worth it. I remember reading someone else's trip report and them saying if you stay offsite, you just stay in your room and that's that - and I totally agree. Staying at the Contemporary made the vacation 24X7 - real special. I loved just walking around and soaking up the atmosphere.

I've seen people say you need a week for the parks - and I agree. 2 or 3 more days would have been great.

This board and Mouseavers are fantastic. For a couple months before our trip, I religously checked out both. I learned a lot - which we used - and just reading about the parks and hotels really helped us get excited. Thanks!

Thanks so much for the reports. We'll be at the CR in Oct. and I love hearing good reports about it. It sounds just like the kind of vacation we want to experience. Just one question that has me worried. If you are a coffee drinker, how's the CR coffee? I've heard sad coffee stories, and am afraid I'll go through withdrawal!

Not sure about that - didn't try the coffee at all, but saw lots of others each day grabbing cups.

Chi-mom, for coffee, hop on the monorail over to the Poly for a pressed pot at the Kona Cafe. I love the Contemporary and it has huge rooms, but the only decent places to get coffee on site is the Kona Cafe & Boma (at least as far as I have found)

dw123, thanks for posting. It sounds like your family is much like mine in that we just can't get enough of MK. We make four-day visits and always spend at least part of each day in MK. BTW, it is my dream to stay at a monorail resort one day. I am glad that y'all had such a great trip

We probably passed each other several times this vacation! As much as we enjoyed staying in the North Garden Wing, we would have loved a tower room with a view of the MK.

Thanks for sharing your reports with us....
