Hi Leebee,
You could definitely get the tickets locally, too, but mine came yesterday and it really was easy. You'll save about $21 (for 3 adult tickets). The tickets are not like the credit card-type you get at the
Disney Store, they are a little flimsy but they'll work!
I'm not totally sure how the Disney Visa works. I know if you apply now you'll get some bonus points. I think I saw something about it on the Disney website. I have 6 points which I think are from last year since there is an expiration date on them although it is about 8 years away. This year, I've managed to accrue over 400 points! We're doing some remodeling to our house and I've been charging everything. I also use it like a debit card. I put groceries, gas, anyplace that takes Visa on the card, then write it in my check book so I can keep track of it. I don't think the balance has to be paid to use the points. After all, that is how they make their money. I'm not sure if they have to be in increments of $20 to use them. I probably won't know until I try to use it. We just bought into the Saratoga Springs DVC and we plan on using the points to pay our yearly maintenance fees.
It's true that you're close to a lot of airports. When we fly to Disney, we usually fly Spirit out of Atlanic City airport. That airport has just 3 hangers and free parking. It's wonderful. I'm not sure if United flies from there, but Spirit is so cheap (and non-stop) to Orlando it may be worth investingating. We're going to Disney in September and we'll be driving for the second time. I can't remember how long the drive (maybe 17 hours?) but we did it without stopping at a hotel. This time we're going to leave on a Friday evening and drive through the night. Our kids are young enough (9,7,3,8 months) to sleep in the car without waking up grumpy.
Well, I think that's about it. Is your daughter happy about the move? You won't be too far from Philadelphia which is nice. Of course, it all depends on the community you live in. New Jersey has some really nice areas and some not-so-nice. I've lived in Michigan and Pennsylvania and the town I live in now is the best we've found.
