We are headed to the World in November just after Thanksgiving and have a 5-day ticket with no park-hoppers. It will be me, my husband, and our 5-year old daughter. Essentially, it will be a first trip for all of us. My husband and daughter have never been and I haven't been since i was a kid (like 11 years old).

I was originally planning on 2 MK days and 1 day in each of the other parks, but with how little that is open in HS these days and all the construction going on, I have been thinking about skipping HS and doing 2 days at MK and AK and one day at Epcot. What are your thoughts?

I would stick with your original plan. DHS does not offer as much as it used to, but it's not so bad I would skip it entirely for a second day at AK. For a 5yo, there are attractions based around Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Muppets, and Disney Junior to name a few.

It depends on your family. Does your family like major thrill rides (Rockin' Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror)? Because when you arrive thats pretty much whats going to be available apart from Toy Story Mania or Star Wars (great rides! but not worth to go to a park just for that ride, in my opinion). If your family likes production, broadway-like shows too, HS is great with the Frozen Sing-A-Long, Beauty & the Beast, The Little Mermaid. There is some good dining over at HS too :)

If none of that floats your boat, skip it. Having 2 days in MK and AK allows you to experience much more in such a big parks which offers you a lot to do. It'll be more relaxing and not rushed with MK and AK spaced out over 2 days.

I think there is still enough to do at HS for a full day or at least a partial day and throw in some swimming at the pool if you don't think you'll spend the whole day. For your 5 yr old, there's Playhouse Disney, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, the Frozen Sing-a-long and Toy Story Mania. HS is also a great place for character meets. She will probably enjoy the Indy show more than you think she might as well. If she's tall enough Star Tours is a great ride, even if you don't know anything about Star Tours. If you and DH are into roller coasters and thrill rides, do the child swap for RnR and ToT. For the evening, Fantasmic could be a little scary, depending on your DS (we waited until ours were a little older, but I have friends who took theirs as toddlers), but there may be the Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam show or the Star Wars nighttime show.

With 5 days, I just think you should enjoy all 4 parks. Make sure you are checking the schedules and doing your MK days right. The Christmas party will be starting back up. You'll want one day on a party night for lower crowds during the day and one day that doesn't have a party, so you can see the fireworks.

Don't skip HS! It's a great "few hours" park and you will need some down time with a five year old... Fantasmic is one of my favorite things so I could never skip it. I don't think AK is a two day park even with the new stuff. My kids find AK very "skippable".

ToT is my 5-year-old daughter's favorite ride (actually, she loved it at age 4). We would be in big trouble if we skipped HS!

You could do AK first, and if you feel like you want more, change your HS day to a 2nd AK, but if you feel like you've had enough of AK, keep it HS.

We do have our MK days set up this way! Yay!

Thank you all for your opinions! I will keep it so we go to all parks at least once and we can play it by ear if necessary.
