I have a pile of clothes on the bed, but I am struggling with what to do a about formal and semi formal night. I don't have any "winter" formal wear!

Since we'll be inside the ship for dinners, any dinner wear will do. Don't you have a "little black dress" that covers all seasons?

No prob on the movies - I love knowing before we go what will be playing.

I forgot to mention that my daughter will be turning 8 on our last sea day, June 6th. I'm trying to figure out what we can do special for her birthday while on ship. I noticed they have a birthday package available but I've read they aren't really worth it. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas..?

I have my birthday on June 2. DCL will present your table with a cake on your birthday. I think it just needs to be noted on your reservation as "celebrating special occasions." If not done before you board, just notify Guest Services and they'll tell you what to do.

I think one of the issues with the birthday package is that it gets put up before you get in the stateroom on the first day. Not quite the surprise of having it on the "official" birthday.

Our family has really enjoyed the birthday celebrations in the cabin as it's a surprise when we arrive to know that Captain Mickey knows it's the child's birthday and wants to celebrate the entire cruise. The cake you get in teh cabin is the same that you'll get at dinner.

We have a later check-in time, by choice, but will definitely try to make it.

I am also looking forward to meeting everyone. I finished the FE's but haven't started thinking about packing. We will be so busy between now and then that I won't stress about that until the day before, I hope.

Do we want to plan on a group meet at 3:45 then in the Atruim? We can take a picture around Ariel outside of Tritons. We can mingle and shot the photo just before we need to start getting ready for the fire drill.

Will someone be posting any FE changes on their cabin door for anyone who doesn't make it to the group meet? Doesn't look like there will be any paid upgrades as our cruise may be old out. It did not show up on Disney's website this morning.

Just talked with DCL regarding what movies will be playing while we are onboard.

I don't have any "winter" formal wear either, however, I did find a sweater to wear over my dress that will work. I kinda figured most everyone would be faced with the same dilemma. If the restaurants are warm enough, I can take the sweater off.

You could pack some balloons, birthday banner, birthday signs etc and decorate your cabin. Be sure to decorate your door with signs also! You could try to get up real early and do it while she is asleep and she can wake up to it or slip away early from breakfast and go decorate. You can find flat decorations at the dollar stores that will fit nicely in your luggage and you won't have to bring them back.

2 weeks from today, we will start migrating north. So excited!

We fly out two weeks from today also!! We have a 7am flight on the 29th.... I cleaned out my room and closet yesterday and went ahead and pulled out all the suitcases and a few duffle bags.... No official packing yet; but pulling out all the luggage was a step in the right direction

I wouldn't have thought that we could have pulled it off but my stepDD came home with material and a plan to make fish extenders last week and we actually pulled it off. AuntLynne's helpful post gave us inspiration. It's hard to see from the picture but the material for the pockets has Mickey's on it. Now the reason I am posting this is because if we can do this --- believe me, anyone can. Now - just as long as they strong enough to hold our FE gifts.

Those look great! Did you use the no-sew pattern that was suggested? It looks similar to the pattern we did.

I just finished putting all the paper work together for the cruise, airlines and excursions and reserved parking for LAX. Still wondering if I booked a hotel along time ago but can't seem to find any paperwork on. I booked one since then but I think I may find a surprise bill on my credit card when I get home.

Thanks! We sewed them. My stepDD basted them and I followed with the sewing machine. The hardest part was remembering how to thread the needle on the sewing machine.

My little night owl is immune to most sleep inducers lol, but I finally bought an iPad this week so hopefully that will keep her busy. The AVOD on V Australia is awesome Sue - jealous! We had international to domestic transfers at LAX earlier in the year, and surprisingly it went quite smoothy...not the nightmare that I've heard about, so hopefully you guys will be okay

Loved V Australia last summer. Flew premium economy and our kids did great! (Ages 4 and 8 at the time.) They don't need a lot of space to sleep in. My younger son asked me just the other day, when can we go back to Australia? Would love to meet you all on the ship!

Great job. I think I have some of that material in my fabric stash. She who dies with the most fabric/craft materials wins. I'm in the running for the fabric part.

I don't think there's any savings pre-purchasing. Will your rewards dollars expire before the cruise?

Photo packet caveat: you can't just add to a photo package if you find a photo you like and want more photos (you can swap out, though). However, you can downgrade if there aren't enough photos you want to get. I heard this happen to the woman in front of me in line at Shutters (the photo area onboard). And that one extra photo would be about $20, whereas the $80 package would have gotten her a bunch of photos. Ask and make sure before you buy.

Two weeks from right now we'll all be on the ship sailing away from Vancouver! How exciting!

I realized I didn't introduce our names in my other posts - my name's Amanda, my friend's Bobby and my mother and father are Paul and Verna.

We're all getting really excited! The packing has begun - we're all struggling trying to decide what to take and what to leave home - it's so different packing for cooler weather I've read that 'layers' are the key - so I'm attempting that, but warmer clothes take up more space in the suitcase

And for dining I have dresses for 4 of the dinners and a skirt for the others, I hope they're not too dressy, but I never have the opportunity to dress up so I'm going to make the best of this! Haha

How's everyone else making out packing? I'm off tomorrow, work the next 7 days and then it's Vacation time! We leave on Saturday the 28th, fly to Vancouver on the 29th, it can't come soon enough!

I was informed today that docs at AAA. I am so excited but won't be able to pick them up for a few days, torture.

I'm excited bc now we're leaving 5/28 instead of 5/29. We really wanted the Saturday (5/28) departure, but we weren't able to get it on frequent flyer miles. But then Delta changed our Sunday flight so that we would only have a 30 minute layover (and we have an infant!). I was able to get them to move us to Saturday with no change fees!
