Ohiominnie... just thought I'd let you know... it's raining here right now... but the sun is STILL out. :umbrella: :sunny:

For once it's NOT raining here. But it is still grey and yucky. There is water everywhere. One guy around the corner has fencing for his cows....the water was to the top rail!! :earseek:

It's 60 degrees now. We look forward to high winds today and a high temp of 23 tomorrow!!! :earseek:

Two Karens share a TOP!

I feel for you. Our house is a preview to your weather. It was 67 degrees here yesterday and rained all night. All the area roads are flooded as is our basement, once again. The temp has dropped to 33 degrees and falling to 11 degrees by tonight. Time to start packing to move to Florida (in my dreams). BUT, only 498 more days!

There are quite a few nice homes for sale in my neigborhood... we could use some fun blood in the neigborhood!

I mentioned moving to FL at work the other day. Someone piped in right away and mentioned the palmetto bug problems they had while living there. I need more ENCOURAGING reasons to move. Sunshine and warm weather, FL rates on DCL... We're talking TX or FL, but have 9 or ten years to make up our minds (if we don't lose our minds from the winter weather by then).

You might want to consider GA too - easy drive down to FL. We really like it here. Although those FL rates on DCL may sway you.

I don't suppose the neighborhood folks would want me to bring my chickens, would they? :scratchin

There may have been one or two GA locations on our list. We have about a dozen bookmarks in the '100 Best Places to Retire' book. I had about 40 places marked, then DH went through and took out all the bookmarks for places with avg. Jan. low temp below 30 degrees and anywhere that snow was mentioned. And I'll follow him wherever he goes.

I haven't seen a palmetto bug yet... maybe the 3 armadillos that live under my pool filter eat them. I distinctly remember visiting my sister in Illinois years ago... and have never seen so many cockroaches, so it can't be any worse!

In terms of your chickens... we have bylaws against that. (We have bylaws against EVERYTHING... including parking my company vehicle in the driveway.) Besides, chickens are gator bait.

We have a week here and there where the low temp is below 30 degrees. You northerners can handle that! You probably wouldn't even call what we get snow. I'm sure you'd laugh. We get snow here in ATL area about once every couple of years. And when it does snow EVERYTHING shuts down.

This winter we've been enjoying almost 70 degree temps. It's been GREAT weather in my book.

One thing to remember about GA is that the humidity is much more bearable that FL - believe me, I grew up and Louisiana and know humidity oh too well!!!

But, our one downside here in ATL area is TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC & more TRAFFIC!!! Maybe it's better over in Columbus, GA where Amanda lives.

Hey, can't a guy be in touch with his "feminine side" without a bunch of flack????? :cool1: :earseek:

The chickens are coyote bait and turkey vulture bait here, but the only thing that has bothered them so far is our dalmation. She thought it was a toy when it got out of the pen while we were at church one Sunday. I guess that was better than the 'toy' skunk our cocker spaniel found in the barn a couple of months ago. :earseek: I know that some of the subdivision rules around here are pretty specific, too. I'll be willing to have a few chicken dinners before I move to somewhere warmer.

Just watched an Oprah show that I taped where she had all the guys that had to be 'ladies' for some reality show. Talk about finding your feminine side...
