Some friends and i have said that we would like to open our own school. (Between us, we are certified in all areas of elementary and secondary schools.) I teach at a public high school. And at the moment, my kids are in a private elementary.

Not at all. I looked into it a couple of years back.

A few years back I thought anyone who did it must be LOONEY! :) And I am, so I fit right in!! :lmao:

Actually, I didn't think I was smart enough, dedicated enough, organized enough, resourceful enough....

but our AWESOME curriculum does most of that for me. :)

You know you are a faithful wife when throw-up makes you  .

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Of course, that is much tamer than many of the things discussed on this board!

hi all -- just checking in. Ashley had her NJHS induction tonight and then we went and grabbed a bite before heading home. Both kids had homework. Ashley is working on a project for Social Studies where she has to make a travel brochure for Costa Rica. Dale has to do a project for Latin on greek gods.

I have to work late tomorrow night (yuck). I really can't wait until this week is over then I only have 1 more full week before vacation week.

COOL! wanna sign my kids forms that I have to send into the school district? Actually, the forms are quite interesting....it doesn't mention anything about working to any specific level---just that they are doing work according to their abilites! :) It has to be signed by a certified teacher. :)

Actually, for me, kitty litter makes me

He told that story to Grandma Lightbulb on the phone the other day and she never stopped laughing the rest of the conversation. And she kept blurting out things like "oh, I've got to tell Betty" and then later "Don is coming down this weekend, I MUST tell him!"

That's interesting. How old is your oldest? We just had a homeschooler come in and take AP tests with our students the last week.

btw, we didn't have our OFFICIAL celebration.....

Hear Ye' Hear Ye'
Page 2805 is to be known now as the "ALL KAREN'S PAGE" by order of the king. :)

Well, DH is home and I haven't seen him in two days, so... gotta go! (Hard to believe I could actually teach English!)

Nighty-night!

My oldest is finishing up 6th grade this year. It's finally starting to all click....she's starting to become a tad more independant. :) YIPPIE! Of course, she still likes to be spoon fed if she can get away with it.

Wow. Quiet evening....

Guess everyone was watching AI....

Here's my impressions of it...whited out so Sandi doesn't see if she doesn't want to...

They won't be white in the quote, so I deleted them. But I'll also comment some. When they did Queen, one of my favorite old rock bands, got myself hooked.

To preface tonight, a cousin I grew up with was a HUGE Elvis fan. I know the songs much better than I normally would because of the amount of time I spent with him.

Begin the whiteout

I find myself somewhat agreeing with Simon.

Part of what makes Taylor's performances fun, sometimes comes around to hurt it. He gets too involved having fun with a song, he doesn't bring enough of himself into the performance and instead, just follows along with how the original singer presented it. That is how he did Jailhouse Rock. And I think that's what Simon's meaning by karaoke, the purpose here is for the singers to put their own style on the song, not just copy the original. Now when Mary mentioned he was doing for his second song In The Ghetto, she seemed to think it wouldn't be that good, I thought he could do good with it if he rose to the occasion, and yes, it was an excellent performance and a total opposite of the first, absolutely made the song have a life of its own, and completely made it his.

I think Chris was the all around best of tonight. He did a solid version of Suspicious and maybe nobody picked up on it, but A little less conversation is supposed to be that way, very fast moving and low in the first verse then pick up and rock hard, I think he played it out very good, maybe layoff the shouting though.

Now here's where I don't agree with Simon at all, but he has no clue, obviously don't know the songs. Elliot very much nailed right on the first song, but Evil is not supposed to be an upbeat song like that. It should be.. smarmy, creepy, threatening, and like the special guest said, with a LOT of heavy attitude. Elliot is not that, and really didn't do it right. Sang well, but not right to the song.

Katherine did nothing surprising to me. Said to Mary at the start of the show that she doing Elvis songs probably isn't going to work. And it didn't, she didn't connect much at all with the first one and that fumbling of lyrics just showed that totally. The guest again was right on, she's not getting into the meaning behind the lyrics, just singing them. She found some meaning at the beginning of the second song but got lost in making a lot of fancy 'hitting notes' singing that kind of obscured the song.

My guess Katherine will be off tomorrow.

My opinion on AI tonight:

I didn't think anyone was great. Chris doesn't have enough variety in his voice or something, he always just sounds flat to me. I don't care for Elliott's melisma, ever, and Chris has it too. I like Taylor, but his voice doesn't blow me away. Now Katherine has a voice that I think COULD blow me away, but she has never really lived up to the snippets we saw of her from the Hollywood week, except for the song she sang on her knees. Elvis week was really for the guys. And on the second song, I think Katherine was just trying to be heard! The band was so loud.

I agree. I really like Taylor, and loved his performance....but it's hard to deny Chris' talent. I think he's going to walk away with it.

Oops...I hope I didn't say anything to blow it! So I'll put this next comment in white:

Katharine did that second song the way some people try to do the National Anthem, and they ruin it every time...as she did. It sounded like trying to mix opera into a rock song.
