Do I have to SNORKEL or in any other way put my face underwater to enjoy Stingray City?

Let's think about this. When was the last time I saw a stingray walk across the water? NEVER.

Yes, they are below the water so if you want to see something more than a grey shape you are going to have to put your face in the water.

Just think of it as a very expensive salt water facial.

V-Day - just got back from Maggie's tap class - John went too - he hadn't seen her tap - but, the windows were covered because they are beginning to practice for their recital (which Maggie won't be participating- it's June 4... ) then we went to eat at a little mexican restaurant on the way home...walked right in - but, by 6:30 when we left it was crowded...

no present from dh - but, did receive roses from one of my senior water aerobics men...2nd year in a row...

I gave John Monty Python's soundtrack for Spam-a-lot...very romantic...

Has it really been almost a year? Just glad I don't have to do a double take anymore to make sure you are posting about your EVIL psycho Maggie and not my darling sweet wonderful Maggie...(Now when Maggie is a teenager - I might be talking about psycho Maggie if she inherits her mother's hormones )

Yup, we've NOT Had her longer than we had her.

But we still have the memories....like the cabinets all chewed up....the fence around the back yard....the holes in my clothes....

The SECOND chattiest thread contained MANY of the people you see right here. A good number of us have cruised together before. They are like my family. With the biggest difference being that this is a MUCH more functional family unit than my REAL one....

But of course, there is ALWAYS ONE in every family, eh?

Invite him. It's a controlled environment where he will be outnumbered. Let him make the decision that he does not want to hang with 5 girls. That way you don't come off looking bad.

I just don't want him to make that decision halfway through the day... granted, most kids are more than happy to spend a FREE day at a theme park...

(Actually, I'd rather have another ADULT join me... but none of my friends do coasters, and Ray is taking Christopher to Monster Jam in Jax. that day...)

No, you don't have to. The water is only waist-deep and if you don't want to suck face, you don't have to. Well, that IS what happens when you put the mask on.

We will have a rental car when we are in Florida before the cruise and are staying at the Radisson. Would you return the car on Friday night and take the shuttle to the port? Or, would you keep the car until Saturday morning, drop off luggage and/or family at port and return car and then take Budget car rental shuttle back to port? Suggestions from my wise friends here.

We are flying in on Wednesday night (just booked the tickets, woo hoo!), so now we have to finalize our car plans. What have you guys done in the past?

OK now that I've stopped laughing over Jim's comment about a salt water facial. Depth of the water depends on the day. when we were there it was about mid-chest high. We were on the DCL excursion and the captain of our boat would hold a stingray up for pictures and so you could pet them so you don't have to put your face in the water if you don't want to.


Anyone is welcome to joing the Stingrays are cute club and are free to put the logo in your signature. That's what Mark made it.

I think some of the Discovery cove packages include Sea world or Busch gardens with them.

They do... you have 7 days of unlimited admission to Sea World after your Discovery Cove visit...

We are using Avis. We've used them the last two times we rented to cruise and have been very happy with their service. The first time they had an office at the Radisson so we dropped off the keys the night before and took the shuttle. The last time (in December '04) we actually got to the port area before it was open so I went over to Avis with Mark and we both took the shuttle over.

Sharon used Captain Marvin's when she did it and they were great.

I've read nothing but stellar reports about the good captain; why I'd be so confident in going with them for the stingrays.

Plan B is what I'm going with, saturday dropoff Mary, Bear and luggage and return the car myself and hop shuttle back to the port, some car rentals have their own, including Avis.

I read on a board somewhere that the lines at the car rental place on Saturdays were really long, we use the shuttle and leave our car at the hotel for the week.
