Good Morning all!

Happy Belated Anniversary, Mark and Mary!

Have a safe trip, Stacey! Can't wait for the trip report!

It's Friday!!! Oh boy, I really am thankful for that!!!

Good morning all!

Hope everyone has a great weekend planned. Stacey, have a great trip! We don't have anything planned. Hopefully Bruce can get some rest since I tend to wake him up several times during the night to help me get comfortable.

kevin and diana...

saw this on someone else's post and it made me think of you:

Badaprents.jpg

:rotfl2: I got the "bad parent" lecture last night after I e-mailed Mike's coach that he might not be at practice due to his homework load last night...

His coach then recommended Mike limit his electronics time to weekends, and then proceeded to hold up his kids' schedule as a model to follow...Also advised, MIke needs more conditioning time and less with electronics and he is available to help outside of practice times..

He knows nothing of our daily routines and our homework rules (which limit electronics to 1/2 hr daily after homework-which most of the time, he doesn't take because we're off to soccer or having family time)...Thankfully, John did the soccer pick-up or LISA might have stopped by to talk with the coach after practice....

Also last night, I got a call from my mom - my best friend back home just had twins last week...unfortunately, she went back into the hospital for an infection and just got transfered out of ICU yesterday. The babies went home, Wednesday without her. Her mom and MIL is in their 80s and she and her husband don't have much support. And her dh works hourly and can't take much time off...They attend church in our home town which is over an hr away from their house, so church family support would be difficult.

I really wish I could be closer to help...It's killing me!!! My mom also would love to help out but can't because she just started chemo this week...Trying to figure out how to coordinate everything here to get up there to lend a hand.

Going back to my stash of M&M's - it's gonna be a chocolate day!!!!

Monica, don't you just love it when someone else tries to tell you how to parent. :rolleyes2 I need Stacey's smilies here. That's a tough one for your friend, hope they get some help! Wow, twins!

I actually was a GOOD parent this morning, as if it will count for anything. With 10 minutes to launch, DD decides she really needs a vintage dress to wear over jeans. Her school is off on Monday, so today is Halloween. The miracle is, I FOUND something. Really a miracle because most of the vintage dresses I have in inventory are around a size 2-4, but I found a typical 80s dropped waist lame dress, complete with several layers of satin ruffles. She was happy.

I was right there with you through the vintage dress thing...thinking flapper, even a poodle skirt...started on the jealous thing with the size 2-4 ...but then you had to mention 80's!!! :earseek: great - my clothes are vintage....great - on top of feeling sorry for myself - I'm now feeling old...Think I'll go to eat my way through another bag of m&m's... :rotfl2:

I burned the evidence of our bad 80s fashions long ago...kept my penny loafers, polos and oxfords though...

Elizabeth has been getting a kick out of watching the "I Love the 80's" series on VH1 this week... she thinks that we were all a little messed up back in those college days. (And she's right...)

Believe me, I was completely surprised when I learned that 80s stuff is considered vintage! Especially considering that MY fashion era was 70s. But when you think about, the 80s is the last of the really recognizable fashion eras. You can look at a dress or jacket and say "yep, that's 80s for sure". The fashions since then have been recycled 40s, 50s, 60s, and now 70s styles are huge. The latest thing seems to be Victorian velvet styles!

And Monica, I DO NOT wear a size 2-4. I sell vintage on Ebay, that's what I meant by inventory. As it turns out, I am also my daughter's personal shopper. She loves to pick through my finds. She's gaining a reputation at school as "the girl that wears vintage". Can't wait to see what she decides to take on the cruise, but it will probably just be vintage jewelry that makes it.

WHEW!

This has been one heck of a day for me!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to school with Fran today...........you know, for Book-A-Ween. There were SO many activities......and SO many six year olds with hands who wanted to hold me!!!!!!!!! Maybe Dave can figure out how to post my picture tonight.

I think I need a little quiet time tonight.

Police: Woman Used Stolen Card in Lottery

The Associated Press
Friday, October 28, 2005; 5:31 PM

MEDFORD, Ore. -- A woman bought a winning lottery ticket worth $1 million with a stolen credit card and could wind up with nothing if convicted, police said.

Christina Goodenow, 38, of White City in southern Oregon faced numerous theft-related charges, forgery and possession of methamphetamine, said authorities, who searched her home Thursday. The card belonged to a deceased relative, they said.

If convicted of any of the charges, Goodenow will not be able to collect prize money from the winning ticket, said police Lt. Tim George.

Oregon Lottery officials refused to discuss specifics of the case because an investigation is still under way.

"I'll be fascinated to see how this shakes out," Lottery spokesman Chuck Baumann said. "In my 12 years with the Oregon Lottery, this is the first time I've encountered something like this."

Goodenow purchased the winning ticket Oct. 9 using a credit card that had belonged to her mother-in-law, who died more than a year ago, police said.

Goodenow traveled to Oregon Lottery headquarters in Salem on Oct 12 to accept an installment payment of $33,500. The $1 million grand prize is paid out over 20 years.

Detectives began tracking Goodenow on Wednesday after learning that she had used the credit card to purchase several items, including the ticket.

A search warrant served at her home Thursday turned up some methamphetamine, but little money, George said.

"Our investigation is still trying to determine what happened to the $33,500," George said.

I think we figured out our New Year's Eve plans... we're going to Tampa, but have canned the B&B idea, in favor of the Bruins/Lightning game on Friday night, the BNL New Year's Eve concert/party Saturday night, and the Outback Bowl on 1/2... (hey Jim- if the season ended today, Michigan would be in...) Should be a fun, but tiring weekend without the kids!!

Just checking in from the Mirage. Our plane leaves at 4 a.m., so I guess I'll get some sleep now. Will post from the ship. Starting to get excited now. They just came & got our checked luggage....just like they do on the last night of the cruise. Take care, everyone!

We went to the Citrus Bowl one year to watch MI plan. We had fun, but kept thinking that the best seats were the ones at the house in front of the HD TV, next to the food and the refrig.

Sounds like you will have a great time, but that is a pretty full schedule. It won't leave much time for anything else.

I hope you remembered to keep out some clothes for the morning. Bunny slippers would look kind of funny on the plane. :rotfl2:

Oh Boy, a TOP for me shared with Stacey and bunny slippers!!! At 4 am it's nice to get a top.

Maria's kids won't be there... so I can realistically leave mine home, too! It's great now that they can stay home alone for a few hours at a time!!! Bribery works!!! I'd rather pay each of them $5 to stay home, not fight, and not call me every 10 minutes than pay a sitter $25. The way I see it, I'm still saving $15, and teaching them to be responsible.

Whew!! That relieves my mind. I can trust AJ(9) not to say anything about the cruise, but my (6) year old, I'm not too sure about. So, it would be the 6 adults and my 2 kids. How far again is it from Orlando?

That's a good idea about the kids staying home. I can't wait til my guys are big enough. Babysitting is very expensive around here. I pay $8/hr for the both of them and my kids go to bed around 8:30, no later on a school night. Easy job to just sit there and watch my TV after that.

Talk to you soon.

Maria
