Thank you for acting firmly....I do NOT want to believe this happens....

I have to add a couple of things to my post....

First....I would NEVER have believed it'd happen in KDG either!! Sure, middle school, more likely high school.... but our incident happened about 6 weeks after that 1st grader shot a kdg in MI....or was it a kdg shooting a 1st grader....can't remember, but before then I wouldn't have believed it either.

Secondly....our decision to homeschool wasn't a knee jerk reaction in response to this. We had already made the decision to let KT ride out kdg (what harm could come of it, anyway?) and start homeschooling in 1st grade. I already had all of my curriculum that I was going to use. The only thing that changed was the timing of it. Instead of pulling her out in September, we pulled her out in April. :)

Thought I should clarify.

:wave2: Hi! Welcome Kelly and family!! Hop right in....we don't bite. Much!

Long day for me......'bout time, huh? I had just gotten my coffee this morning when one of the guys at the shop called. Jay had gone out to install already, and they had an emergency. I ran over there to find out that they needed keys for the apartment and the front office building that we rent out. Some emergency. They know where the keys are! Oh well. It got me up and going anyway.

Ang...glad things turned out okay for Emily! Yes, being a parent is tough, and it doesn't get a whole lot easier the older they get. I've been known to "sit in" on more than one class, just so that I knew what was going on. I remember that the school discouraged parents from coming in during the first couple of weeks of school.....but that was typically when we would see the most problems, and if you aren't on it from the start, it can get worse. Drop in on her class if you feel the need to. I think taking the cupcakes (the first birthday celebration of the year!) will make her pretty popular!! Maybe that will break the ice a little.

The queen palm is deader than a doornail..(or is it doormouse?)

That's dead as a doornail

ok, I confess, this image came up as "naildoor" not "doornail" ;)

QUIET as a dormouse:

o.k. - on the way to soccer practice - 2 kids, same practice time, 2 different locations... :moped: Don't have time to post my required 4 a day...

Glad Emily found a playmate. That can be so heartbreaking for a mom!

Thought the saying was "quiet as a church mouse" - I learned something new today!

Also read "Yes....you must skinny dip in the CHattahoochee River for initiation" and thought of "Ode to Billie Joe" - so looked that up and I was way off...she picked flowers off the Choctaw Ridge and dropped them off the Tallahatchie Bridge...oh well - now I"ll be singing that song all night tonight...

Welcome ALASKA...Book it!!!

signing off...na new na new...

I understood completely! Even if it had been a knee-jerk reaction, it was a GOOD one!

Here's how Dingle usually gives us ours:

can't find a picture of mouse kidneys.....sometimes he gives them to us that way too!

Stacey - tell Jordan she has more cheerleader company. Linda (seaulater) just posted on the Member Cruise thread that they had to cut their WDW part of the vacation short so Jamie could get back for a cheerleader garage sale. :cheer2:

and with that, I'm off to read more Harry Potter. Amazon.com was so speedy getting this book here! It just shipped YESTERDAY!

Kikikaren - along with shingles, roofs, fences - do you know how hard it is to hire tree cutters? Bet you do......

Yep... we cut down the one queen palm that fell during Charley... the stump is still there, but the hibiscus around it is so thick that you can't see it.

Russell, my favorite queen palm (yes, I named him, cause he 'rustles' nicely when I'm floating in the pool) succumbed to the 3 storms... he hasn't fallen, but hasn't had a single green leaf/frond/whatever in almost a year. But he's still standing, and the home inspector didn't say that he needed to come down before the closing, so he's staying put.

I also have a pygmy palm in front that has croaked... it keeps sprouting a VERY occasional sign of life, so I haven't had the heart to dig it out yet.

OM, are you on book 2 now? Do you ever shop at Half.com? Not as speedy as Amazon, but I find amazing deals on books, CDs, and DVDs on there. When I can wait for them, that is. I can understand that the HP book was an emergency.

Well, I left the radio off today on the ride home. And didn't ask as many questions, but just started talking. Every now and then she jumped in with something. So, it was better! I'm pretty tired though, I spent three hours wrestling with non-fiction books. I got them all filed through the 300s, and the remaining unfiled ones are stacked by number. I felt pretty proud. Still noone checking out books, though.

Glad to hear that Emily found a friend. I'm sure you were more worried than she was, Ang.
