Hi from Michigan. My Dad has finally joined the computer age, so while we are waiting for his medicine to be delivered before we can go to the lake, I will try and read what I missed since I last checked. It is fun having Matt back from Costa Rica. Hopefully Jim will have a great week on his own.

Sharon - good to hear that you made it safe and sound. Hope you and the kids have a great time in MI.

Hey Mary, we have already freely admitted that we don't say much useful stuff on this thread! ;)

Thomprod, hope you will join in the fluff. Making friends can be serious business, you know.

Thanks for the info, Mary. We will go check it out! We were planning to go to PI on Tuesday the 26th, looks like it will just be more crowded than we were anticipating.

Well... we've gone from last weekend just 'THINKING' about a bigger house, to having a FOR SALE sign on the front lawn this morning. We have made an offer on a much bigger house in our neighborhood, (prayers appreciated please!!!), and are waiting for a response. In the meantime, we've listed our house, and have a few other options if the first house falls through. (But I LOVE it... and its right in our current neighborhood.)

I had planned on cleaning nonstop all weekend, til a stomach virus reared its ugly head last night... still feeling really icky, but I managed to scrub the master bath cleaner than its ever been, and am almost done with my bedroom. Christopher's room will tomorrow's project... practically need a dumpster for that one.

46 weeks doesn't sound so bad......one more month and it will be like the gestational period.....did that and lived through it. I guess I can wait that long for a cruise!!! :teeth:

Hey wait... a cruise is what STARTED my first one!! THAT won't happen again!!!

And totally off the topic again...

All of the days we have spent in FL in the last few years, and we have yet to see a shuttle launch. It would be cool to see one, I keep hoping.

I saw one from a high-rise on Daytona Beach back in '96- even though we were far away, it was still really neat to see.

They haven't launched a shuttle since before we moved here, but we've watched all the rocket launches from our front yard-pretty cool!

Sharon, sorry I missed you. Checked for an email from you, but did not find one. Just another example of how this family (and others, you know who you are) communicate through DIS.

As you can tell, everyone is now gone. I dropped them off at MCO at 6:30 am. I have not done a thing today and have enjoyed every minute of it! :)

Diana - I agree. Just explaining to Thomprod why I didn't think he/she was just kidding. I'd love for him to join us so we could get to know him/her. Stacey invited them to join our thread a couple of weeks ago and that was their response.

Yeah, and it would be perfect for you guys!!! 3 bedroom, 2 bath, nice pool, corner lot, 14 orange trees, 1 lemon... just watch out for 2 other crazy DIS families that live nearby.

Karen - how much are you asking?

Yeah like we could afford it. :guilty: Would love to have a house with a pool and would love to move out of a Chicago winter.

Only thing is we'd need jobs as well.

I am serious in knowing what homes go for in your area so pm me if you don't want to say online.

Hey, I take that personally!

I tried to put some CR pictures on line, but it is not happening easily. I took my DVD recorder and not my normal Sony camera. Got some great video and still pictures, but this is my first attempt at hooking it up to my USB port on the computer. I'll try to post some later.

Trip report:
Started in San Jose. Don't ever plan on spending much time there. It is a big and noisy city. Nothing special about it, except that is where Matt spent 5 weeks. I got to see his school, had dinner with the family. Eat well. They cooked traditional foods. I can't tell you what it all was, but it sure was good.

We than spent 3 days at Arenal Volcano area. This is the most active volcano in our part of the world. The area is beautiful. We did a zip line tour with some zip lines as long as 700 meters. We really got some speed up. It was all through the rain forest over a canyon about 300 ft down.

The next day we did a canyon tour which meant we repelled down water falls and hiked down the river. The largest drop was 180 ft. The rest were from 40 ft to 100 ft. We got wet.

We did a hike at the base of the volcano and saw a minor eruption. It shot out lava boulders.

We did whitewater kayaking and a cave tour. The cave tour was the dirtiest thing I have done in a long time. We spent a lot of time on our bellies crawling through mud and water. Some of the holes were pretty small. At one point Matt was leading and he yelled out "Am I suppose to be swimming?" He was.

We ended up staying the last night at Tabacon Hot Springs Resort. That is a resort that would make Disney proud. The springs are naturally hot as it is from the volcano. There are all kinds of water falls, rivers, pools, and spas to sit in and relax. It sure felt good after all the activities we did.

Matt is planning on going back next year and spending more time, probably about 8 weeks. Hopefully the whole family will be able to make a trip too.

Matt's Spanish has improved and over all a great trip for a 15 year old, even though he did get lost on the bus a few times.

One more thing about CR. Matt was thrilled to get the 10,000 post.

We were staying at Hotel Heradura which is a large hotel. The only computer is in the lobby for everyone to use. Our room was back by the pool and a pretty long walk to the lobby.

He would run out and use the computer for the max allowed 10 minutes. Come back to the room for a few and than back to the lobby. Back and forth....trying to time when 10,000 would be coming up.

He sure did put a lot of effort into scoring 10,000 :cool1:

Jim,

Sounds like you and Matt had a great time together. What a wonderful experience for a young man.

I was happy to witness Matt getting #10,000. I loved how he said it was a great way to start a week with his dad, so you are part of 10000 too!

Thanks, but all the credit goes to him. I was laying in bed!

It was funny to watch. He would come back and report on who was posting and what they were saying, "Mark is asleep on the couch".
