Hey.......given enough margaritas in Epcot (anyone remember that?) I may just tell the story of the rat with the ruby slippers. The guys at work didn't think I'd have guts enough to tell that story to my "internet buddies"........
oh, DO tell!! :rotfl2: or is this a "in your face" story?

It doesn't involve bartenders, does it?

Actually, this is interesting. I went to apply for ALL of our passports by myself. Mike had the flu and could hardly get off the couch. The kids stayed home with him. The only trouble I had was in getting MIKE'S passport. He needed to get off the couch and go in personally. Otherwise had no problems with the kids. Maybe that's cuz I live in po-dunk London! But we do have Cappys!!!! ;)

ok, i'm correcting myself. it WAS a problem with the kids' passports. mike had to show his face and sign something in the clerk of courts presence. we had put off getting them and were pushing time, so i took them in while he laid on the couch with the flu and pneumonia! i had to send him in there with a high fever, unshowered and smelling ripe. hey, they asked for it!!! ;)

our passports didn't cost anywhere NEAR $700. looking back in quicken we paid the dept of state and the clerk of courts about $225 during that time period. that was for 4 of us.

Yet another documented case of "Be careful what you ask for!!!"

Ok. So the weather has been really nice all week. So today I decided to wear my new Mickey capris. ::MickeyMo A lady here told me that they were cute & I pointed out the Mickey's in the fabric since you don't really notice them. She said, "It's good that you don't really notice them. You're getting too old to wear Mickey." The nerve!!! :earseek: But this is coming from the same lady that has told me that we wasted our money taking our kids to Disney at such a young age because they wouldn't remember. :confused3

Well, that isn't true in Daytona Beach. I tried to renew mine and the get ones for the kids, but they refused without the children present (age 5 & 9). So, Jim handled that later and had lots of "fun" with the fact that Lisa was not born in the US and had to provide her "citizenship" paper to get her passport. (Getting that piece of paper is a story unto itself - sufficeint to say after that experience, I totally understand illegal immagration. I speak the language, both Jim and I were born in the US, etc and it still took 2 1/2 years to get thru the process).

Last year we had to renew the kids passports and the rules have changed. We both had to be physically present with the kids and even though they were "renewing" their passports, kids cannot renew passports. They had to go through the application process all over again. (and guess who didn't have birth certificates, etc with her). Fortunately, they processed everything pending my return with the birth certificates the next morning - which I did.

Angie, your friend is a Disney Grinch. ;)

We shouldn't have told Kevin the bartender story, Stacey. But come to think of it, wasn't it posted on the thread?

Now I want to hear the rat and ruby slipper story.

How incredibly RUDE! I have the Mickey sundress, black & white. Had my seamstress take it in (just yesterday) and I pointed out the Mickeys and she said "How cute!"......:crazy2: An ugly face to your neighbor, who obviously doesn't "get" Disney!

Stacey,

Did you get the black & white one recently through DisneyDirect.com? I got the black & white capri & t-shirt. I love it! It's so comfortable. I'm hoping it's still in good enough shape for the cruise next summer.

I checked that out earlier... depending on where you live, you can even put your home address in, and get an arial view of your house. I checked out the college that I went to (way back when), and saw that they have CERTAINLY added a ton of buildings since I left!!

You can check out MK, and other WDW areas as well... pretty cool.

Sure am glad I am not the only one that has that problem. I started my diet (atkins) on Monday, even before I found out we were going to WDW this summer. I have had 3 good days and am feeling less hungry during the day now. Once I get started I am pretty sure I can stick with it.

I just haven't been in the mood to diet lately. I may get that urge again....but if not, oh well.

Mary....that's really cool....but it won't zoom in on my house....I guess we're too far out in the sticks. So I looked at my Mom and Dad's house instead!

Any one been to the Swan/Dolphin?

We just booked an overnight there at a pretty good rate (thanks hoteldiscounts.com). DS wants to stay on property for his birthday. Can't really complain about that!

Glad my DS doesn't read the DIS boards... I just asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday... didn't get an answer- if he knew that was an option for ANYONE, he'd be putting himself up for adoption!!! (Granted, he's only going to be 8, but he thinks big...)

Ditto on that for my kids, not even mentioning birthday in combination with next year's cruise maggie turns 9 on 5/24/06 or, that will start a whole chorus of "what about me from Mike" - so, it's Dad's graduation present :rotfl:

I can't complain too much - Maggie and Mike love dads vs kids lazer tag with a few close friends to celebrate their birthdays...Not sure who has more fun the dads or the kids :rotfl2: ...Of course, I have the most fun, I'm forced to stay home with a good book in a quiet house!!! :teeth: I'm just going on what I was told by Maggie - it couldn't be moms vs. girls - moms don't play as well as dads....

Jim, looks like you have more than one birthday celebration coming up. We've stayed at the Dolphin, it was OK. I hear the Swan is nicer, recently remodeled and has very nice beds. Maybe they have remodeled the Dolphin by now. Nice pool area.

I booked rooms for Alicia's birthday party this weekend, but they aren't on site. Pretty far from it, in fact.

We did book at the Swan. DS originally wanted the Beach Club, but they are not having any deals this month and he decided he would rather spend the money on food and not just a hotel room. When the Swan is less than 1/2 the price he now has a lot of food money.
