Kevin and Diana, a funny story for you resident NMers....The first time my DH went to NM with me was about 3years ago....I had been bragging on Lotaburgers all our marriage and he loves green chili (for a GA boy)...of course he loved lotaburgers....on our way out of SantaFe we could not find a Lotaburger so we settled for Wendys......we were both so very surprised that you could get green chili burger from Wendys! LOL We still laugh about that to this day!

They also make fun of me cause I make a "binder" for my vacations. I guess they just go by the seats of their pants. I can't do it like that. Planning is MORE than 1/2 the fun for me.

TTFN,
Maria

Maria - planning is the fun part for me too! I usually do a spreadsheet for our Disney trips and have one set up for our June trip. I had a number of people tell me that the photo and name listing was a great help. I know my DH Mark used it a lot in the last couple of weeks to get to know everyone.

One thing I did for the 10 day and we'll be happy to do for this cruise as well is a DIS Navigator. The front had the meets we had agreed to listed on it and inside was a listing of everyones rooms. That way people could leave notes for each other and we even played DIS tag. It was fun!

I saw yesterday that parts of Atlanta were flooding, I hope Angie is okay. OMKaren, have you heard from your brother? Or was that KIKI whose brother had the Subway shop? I forget..

Amanda, we're fine. No flooding here in Alpharetta. Although the yard is pretty soggy (squishy) in spots. Are y'all still getting rain? Just a brief shower for us this a.m. I guess I jinxed myself yesterday. We have a COLD & wet day today. It's very windy.

One trip we took to WDW, I laminated our itinerary and I haven't lived it down yet!!

I definitely think the planning is half the fun!!!!!!

I didn't get to see Taylor Mason at Christmas, so I had no idea who that was there, either. Charlotte (Glenelgmom from the 10 night) was very good friends with Taylor in college...so they plan on having dinner at Palo the next time they end up on a cruise together. Pretty small world sometimes, huh??

Stacey, you missed Taylor Mason? How did you do that? I think he performed about six times between all the venues. He even made it up to the teen club. He was the funniest act on the ship, though Rich Purpura was pretty funny too.

Amanda, write this down. Go to Garcia's Kitchen when you're here in Albuquerque, there are maybe 5-6 of them. Order the Huevos Rancheros on flour tortilla with green chile plus an extra side of green chile. It's not just for hamburgers, you know! That ought to take care of your craving. We have to do that about twice a week, but sometimes we get enchiladas. That's where you should meet Kevin!

Kevin sent some green chile to his sons in Houston a couple of years ago. He sent it fresh roasted, and it had to be packed in dry ice. The shipping cost about 5 or 6 times what the chile cost, I don't think he's going to do that again.

Diana, are they homemade torts or prepackaged? I cant do the prepackaged..it just seems....I dont know...wrong LOL

PS I hate cleaning....I am trying to get the kids to cooperate and clean and it is no fun

She'll have a tough time getting a Cappy's pizza.

Hmm... sounds like Mary needs to add a column to our 'roster page' for 'regional food specialty'! All this food talk is making me hungry!!!

Just came back from Sam's Club... didn't find the Banfi... :confused3 ... Jim - did you say you found it there- was it the one on Beville Rd?? I saw Banfi, but it wasn't the same brand, and was $56 a bottle. Sorry... I'm not paying $56 for anything at Sam's!!

Karen, the Scubas are at a wedding, but I think he said he found Banfi at BJ's Wholesale Club. He also said they bought all of it!

Amanda, Garcia's makes their own flour tortillas and they are the BEST. They have the best sopapillas too, a little bit sweet.

Everyone has their own preference in Mexican food. When my Dad is in town, he has to go to this place that has turkey enchiladas. They put cornstarch in their green chile sauce, which I can't stand.

That's right... I forgot- they escaped sunny FL for some mid-Atlantic misery instead...(the weather, not the wedding...) Hmm.. BJ's- I don't even know where there is one around here? I'll have to remember to ask him later.

All that talk of Mexican food is sounding so good! No dinner out for us tonight... big fat juicy burgers on the grill, instead... but those are always good too!

Good Morning Everyone. We have been busy working around the house as well. Tons of laundry to do which I hate. Kids jumped in this morning and did their rooms and helped with the sun room, living room and kitchen. It makes it easier. Of course I had to bribe them. Told them that I had started ING savings accounts for them and they already had $60 in each of their accounts. Of course they don't know that I got the $50 bonus from reading off of these message boards.

I will continue to put $10 each month of their allowance into the savings account and them give them $10 cash each month. I know other parents who give a lot more, but I think $20 a month is plenty. I buy them all the clothes and essentials they need.

I am a little depressed and sad today. Everyone is talking about either going to WDW or on a cruise soon. I know we have the WDW trip planned for December, but I have no plans for anything this summer. wahhhhhh:guilty:

By the way, I did finally get our dolphin swim straightened out with Dolphin Discovery for the cruise next year. They were able to get our entire group of 7 at one time on the Package. We are doing the Dolphin Swim at 12 noon and the sea lion swim at 2:15. They billed my credit card on Thursday. Of course, my hubby thinks it is pretty expensive -- oh well, you can't take it with you;)

We have nothing 'planned' until the '06 cruise! (Unless you count going back to NH for DH's class reunion at Thanksgiving ---not----).

I want to go back to Sanibel/Captiva for a few days... we went last July without the kids, and want to take them this year. We can't go til July- it's extremely hot, but better than no vacation at all!!!

Wow! ya'll were busy posting today...I'm going to see if I can keep up - tons of questions and responses to various topics...So, here they all come!! :teeth:

John has a 4 day public policy class/seminar for his MBA in D.C. so, we're taking advantage of it and joining him and staying a week mid June. My parents are flying in from Chicago to join us - no one has visited D.C. before; we're all pretty excited...The kids are starting to read up on D.C. under my guise being our tour guides ;) hey, whatever works - I'm not telling them it's an "educational" trip...

Then both of our 20th reunions are in August and Labor Day weekend. We're not going back for John's and I'll probably "escape" away on my own for mine in Sept....As much as I'd like to show him off (he was out of the country for the 10th) - he'd much rather be home with the kids...I don't blame him either...Even though, I know the majority of his graduating class, and my very "bestest" friend is in his class; I'm not pushing to go to his reunion...

Ironically, we just had a "mini-reunion" this week - John's math teacher was in visiting from Illinois and we got together for dinner...My father taught math at the same h.s. so, I grew up with the math department as family friends...

I'll hire out my kids at $3/hr - that's what their hourly wage is for me...Maggie's earning money towards her cruise souvenirs - Mike is paying me back for blowing over $100 this year in the cafeteria on snacks and junk food - and he gets a extra 1/2 hour of time added to his balance every time I have to make a return trip to school to pick up forgotten homework. He's got 25 hours of work before he can eat hot lunches again.

He does do a good job cleaning. He just started doing bathrooms and lawn mowing - under direct supervision...

They fight over the swifter duster, the mop, and who gets to use the hand held vacuum on the stairs. They started the bathrooms last week and they think it's great fun! I've got weird kids - they don't do as good of job as I do, and they take 2x as long - but, I'm not complaining - I don't have to do it!!
