Christopher's team won the first tie breaker last night after 4 rounds, but came up short on the second. It was heartbreaking... they played so hard all season. They finished the season 8-1, with 6 shutouts...
He's walking around the house tonight not knowing what to do with himself... but then again, so is Ray!!

Please keep my mom in your prayers tomorrow... she is having arterial surgery on her leg, and will be in the hospital until at least Saturday. I'm not sure who will need prayers more... her or Dad. I just wish I could be there...

Hope your Mom is doing fine - tomorrow is now today and she should be out of surgery. Will say a prayer and wait for an update.

Chris's team played hard, it is sometimes worse to come in "almost first" than back in the pack. tough break.

Have been out of town with no e-mail acces...i hope everyone had a happy halloween...

we had wind and rain, so no patio fire and block party this year...pity.

We still had about 70 kids come by - some were cute and clever - others - it was all for the candy!

I gave out popcorn balls this year - Act II - individually wrapped with spiders on them - neat! I actually had one kid hand it back to me and say "I don't want this".

Our neighbors joined us, with a sign on their door - go next door....

So there were always 2 of us handing out candy. One little brother, after taking mine, said he didn't get any...His big(ger) brother turned him away and said "Yes, you did!" Good for big Brother...it was cute (and honest). Little borther "remembered" and apologized.

Mostly all kids said thank you.....and when we spotted the parents, all waved.
that's why I like setting up across the steet - more time to chat to parents.

Happy Friday everyone - gosh - it has been a while since I was the last one to post at night and the first in the am.

No diving this weekend.....something about small craft warnings and seas around 10 feet.....maybe I will attack the jungle...

Stacey & KikiKaren, I hope & pray that both of your parents are doing well.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekends with that extra hour of sleep!

broken toe many years ago. It was at the fire dept So I thought I might as well just get it fixed while I'm still there.
they had to take out bone, cut a tenden and put a pin throu the toe.
should heel in about 4 - 6 weeks. Then remove the pin and hope it worked.
so I am on light duty at the station for now. No calls for me.Almost like being retired.

have A good night all

Hello everyone. Just caught up, I'm moving a little slow these days. Had lots to do when I got home!

The trip was fun, we did a lot of wine tasting, some food sampling, and more wine tasting. I really liked those free tastings! Got to see Sam & Irene, Jim and the Scuba kids. They haven't changed much, but Lisa looks somehow more mature. She is a teen now, right? Yes Irene, the duck was very good!

We had a really nice meal at California Grill on the dining plan. Tried the halibut, that's a first for me. The most interesting thing was our new waiter. We each had a couple of glasses of wine to match our courses, and he was very generous with the pouring! I estimate we got about 1/3 of the bottle in our glasses each time. Good thing we weren't driving home!

No trick or treaters this year at all. Kevin and Alicia even carved pumpkins. We got all excited when our doorbell finally rang at 8 pm, but it was UPS! We gave her some candy, what the heck.

I am here alone tonight, and sleepy. Kevin is teaching a dive class, Alicia is babysitting. Tomorrow evening he's going to a photo club shoot at the Day of the Dead celebration, and Alicia and I are going to see Movin' Out. We will all have fun, just not in the same parts of town. Sort of normal for us, no?

Jim and Irene, I am sorry to say that no plans have been made to get back to Florida for cave diving. Unless Kevin has made plans and not told me. I am always the last to know!

WHERE are you???????????????????????????????????

Still freezing in Nebraska! Using Mom's laptop, so I can be PURPLE this time.
I'm glad you got your surgery over and done with. It is NOT fun, is it?? I tried to warn you. Hope it heals up quickly and correctly.

My incision is still open. It's closed on each of the outside edges, but still pretty wide open in the center. I'd say if you squished a nickel so that it were oblong, it's about that size. Just now starting to get the feeling back, I guess that's the nerves he moved around...regenerating maybe? But it has a little more pain and discomfort to it now than it has had for a while. But it will get better eventually I suppose.

Dad's doing okay. One eye is not responding as well as we'd like, I called the doctor today and we're trying an ointment, and will most likely go see him tomorrow. Now I'm wishing I were staying a few more days....Mom doesn't even like calling the doc, she had me do it. But I warned my brother yesterday that he's going to have to step up to the plate.

Actually have been pretty lucky weather-wise. Yesterday and today were chilly, but it could have been much worse, so I'm grateful. And it isn't going to snow afterall. Knock on wood!!

Take care everyone!

Stacey and Gary - both of you hurry up and get well.......

Stacey - pixie dust for your Dad...hope he is better as well.

Diana - welcome home and thanks for putting together a "mimi-meet" that was fun. We shall have to do it again next week.

Sharon, you and your family are still in our prayers.

Otherwise HI.....that's it, just HI!!

Good Luck to all our adventurous dis-kids.

Wow... looks like we're all busy... after being away from my computer for about 6 days, I thought I'd have more than a page to come back to!

My sister flew in on Halloween Night... (no, not on a broom, on an airplane.) Thursday and Friday's weather were quite crummy, thanks to Tropical Storm Noel, so we just hung out and caught up. On Saturday, I took her (and my kids) to Busch Gardens. She hadn't been there since 1984, so it had changed quite a bit. We had a GREAT day. Sunday, we went to an Art Festival, and Monday morning, I took her back to the airport, while I boarded a plane for a quick 36 hours in Dallas for a meeting. (During that 36 hours, we got new floors in 2 rooms of the house - how's that for planning!) Now its back to work, playing catch up, and trying to make heads or tails of the mess on my desk.

Thanks for all the P&PD...My mom's surgery went great last week, according to her. She's got about 40-50 staples in her leg where they bypassed the vein/artery (not sure which) that was causing the trouble. She is up and around on it, and feeling pretty good. She also got her new Rx for her glasses, and she is finding that she has not lost as much of her vision as they first thought. She figures she's still got 50% in one eye, and 70% in the other... which she says is tolerable.

We are now in the planning stages of trying to convince her and my dad to let us take them on a cruise for their 50th Anniversary in June... I think at this point, my sister and I have decided that we're going with them or without them. So, I may actually have a trip to look forward to... June 22... 7-day Bermuda... can't wait!

I'm back!

You should talk to Kevin.

Yes, I got the memo. End of January, cave diving. Someone needs to explain dry suits to Irene.

He is going back with me, though, first week in May. Six nights at BCV, dinner reservations for California Grill (my birthday), and V&A (our 20th anniversary). At least that's the plan today.

Stacey, good to hear from you! Yes, tell that brother it's his turn, you need to get back to your own healing!

Here is what happens when your daughter volunteers to model for a photo club. You get really interesting shots! Posting one of my favorites. It is not Kevin's. He got some good ones, but they are kind of PG rated. There are other favorites (many), but most are too big to post here.

First week in May! That is perfect!

We are going to be at WDW for the first two weekends in May for races.

When are you going to let Kevin come out and play with Matt and me? I'm sure we can pull in Sam and Irene too!

I told him, you can take the scuba equipment and rent a car. He said he'd skip it for that trip. Just taking the camera stuff. We arrive on Saturday, Sunday is my birthday, and we leave on Friday. Not much weekend time. Of course, he might change his mind.

Ask him about Grand Cayman though.
