Hey Kevin...what does it mean if you're looking to buy a camera, and it says "Body Only"?
That's easy....the picture just cuts off everyone's head.

Since the SLR and DSLR have many different lens options, they can sell the camera without the lens, hence "Body Only". Most of the manufactures also sell some models, mostly the move up versions, not the pro models with a lens included. Those are usually called a "kit lens"
Which camera are you looking at?
Well, ssshhhh....don't tell anyone.....but I've been looking at houses in Florida. The ones there are quite affordable. But I'm guessing that it's smack in hurricane territory...??...but then, isn't ALL of Florida?
If you are looking in Florida....come north. Most people are trying to get out of anything south of I-4, except Sam and Irene.
It's just getting to be way to many people and it sure is a lot hotter.
I don't use any extra lenses on the Canon...would I absolutely HAVE to have other lenses?
I was kind of looking (for my anniversary gift) at the Nikon D40...would love the D80, but it's a little more than what I think Jay would be willing to "give" me.
The Nikon D40 is a decent camera. Smaller for small hands and would probably suit you just fine. I'd get the newer version, the D40x which has a higher resolution, lower ISO and the D200 image processor in it and some other refinements as well. The only drawback to the D40 is that it will not auto-focus with any lens that is not AF-S or AF-I. The AF lenses use the camera body focus motor and the D40 doesn't have one.
If you can get it with the new 18-135mm lens, that would be a more versatile "all around lens" than the 18-55mm. I'm thinking most of those come with the 18-55mm which is just ok..... Diana has that lens with her D50. It's not bad, just not as sharp as some others.
hope that helped.
Affordable houses? A beach?
HEY FLORIDA FOLKS! What can you tell me about a place called Palm Bay, Florida??
Umm... Mom always said "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all..."
Umm... Mom always said "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all..." Not that I know anything horrible about Palm Bay... my niece's birth mother and sister live there... but I agree with Jim... head NORTH! Lots of great houses here... in fact, I REALLY wish someone would buy the one two doors down from me so that the lawn would get mowed every week instead of every 2!!!!!
Whoa, whoa, whoa there.....back up......MOW THE LAWN???
Never mind. Florida is out.
Back to looking in the Caribbean.
Found a couple of 2 bedrooms on the ocean for $170,000![]()
Floridia is "sub-tropic" so there is lots of grass, but do you think we actually mow it? We have people for that!![]()

The houses may be affordable, but what about the insurance? I just got my latest issue of 'Where To Retire' that listed many 'affordable' planned communities in Florida, but I'm afraid the insurance would price us out. We'd be looking at north or central, but are in no hurry. Can't retire yet.
