Sorry, D, but that snack sounds disgusting. But then, I don't like potato chips anyway. Unless they have ketchup on them.

I can't figure out why I'm wrinkling my nose at chips and red chili, or chips and ketchup...

ketchup and fries...great...fritos (or tortilla chips ) and salsa yum... but, potato chips wouldn't really be that big of a difference, would it???

Someone walked by with a snack I didn't even know existed, but my SIL assured me is addictive. It was a pile of potato chips, smothered with red chile and cheese. NM red chile, that is, not con carne. Bet they don't have that one at WDW!

My big puzzler of the night was trying to figure out how the 1812 Overture became an American tradition on Independence Day...

I have seen the Boston Pops perform the 1812 Overture on the 4th of July while watching the fireworks... once.

I went when I was in college... July 1987... Its one of those once-in-a-lifetime things that every New Englander HAS to do once... but once you've done it, most (normal) people swear to never do it again.

It was FANTASTIC... but what an ordeal (think WDW on the busiest day of the year...750,000 people in last night's estimated crowd) ... lots of fun, but watching it on TV is ok with me.... Boston on July 4 has, by far MUCH better fireworks than even WDW... no contest!

I had to laugh at this whole discussion... my boss and I were having lunch at a deli last week... he had a bag of sour cream & onion potato chips, and was stacking a jalapeno pepper slice and grey poupon mustard on each one... and I thought I ate weird stuff!!!!!!!!!

To say we got rained on would be an understatement... we got about 6 inches of rain... which is great, because we needed it too... what wasn't great was that my sunroof was open on my truck... only a few inches, but, with that amount of rain, it might as well have been wide open.


I'm trying to decide now if turning my heated seats on will DRY them out or cause an electrical fire .

That explains why I got wet while cleaning the pool deck. I thought Lisa just kept spraying me. Yes, Lisa, Sharon and I all worked outside yesterday in the rain. Once we got wet it was not that bad. At least it was not hot!

Great pictures Virgil!! You've got a good eye! You need to get a circular polarizer and that make a difference in a lot of pictures. Pop the sky. Some of those places would have been magic to shoot at sunset!!

Loved the Pompeii shots. Such an interesting place and time. Captures the imagination, doesn't?

The Rome shots are very intersting as well!! Definitely need a 10.5mm fisheye for some of those ceiling and interior photos you got!!

Lisa and I will go watch the fireworks Saturday night after the race. That is much easier then trying to watch them on the 4th because we can just sit in the car by the airport. They are the best fireworks around!

And now they're doing the Daytona Beach fireworks on Saturday night too... seeing as the rogue wave toppled the barge on the 4th... so there should be fireworks just after the start of the race AND just after the finish.

Trying to decide if I'm going to the Busch race tonight or not... the kids want to go, but I really don't feel like it. I'll probably be over there half the day today to work the A-B booth out in Vendor Village... not so sure I want to go back there again tonight...

Thanks Kevin, I used to take tons of pictures back in the 35mm era...LOL... I was trying to catch some interesting pictures - need to work on keeping the camera level and such - but I'm overall happy with the pics as it was the first major trip using the D200. I shot in both jpeg and raw this time. I filled two 8gig cards.

The Sistine Chapel shots were tough as we weren't allowed tripods of any kind. I changed the ISO to 400 - but didn't want to get too grainy - the ones that are blurry were due to me not paying enough attention, getting bumped and running out of time. Even though it was a "private" tour - it was us and 200-300 or so of our closest DCL friends.

I agree with the 10.5mm - I only have the 18-200 at the moment. I need to get the filters, but ran out of time before the trip. I plan on playing some with Photoshop once I get the chance....

KiKi...did you go to the race this morning? Sharon drove right by the track this morning around 8 am and did not even notice that they were getting ready for a race.

Morning, Jim! The job was very tough the first day. July 4th, very hot, very busy, lots of going in and out carrying groceries and pushing carts for 6 hours. I went to check on her, she was working hard! Yesterday, not so busy, only four hours, and a cute boy was working too. Much better.

It's the little things that make you like your job, you know?
