WTG, Lisa and Jordan!

Hey, I won an award today! The bad mom award. Took Nick to rehearsal at 9am. The schedule said "Munchkin rehearsal 9-12." So I went to Sam's Club, and the bank, and Staples, and to a cross stitch store. Got back at 11:30, figuring I'd hang out until he was done. He was done. He had been done since 10:01.
The director said, "I told the Munchkins the other night that their rehearsal would be short and they'd get out early." Ok, well thanks for telling the responsible PARENTS that information!!! Seeing as you gave the message to my 10 yr old with ADD, I didn't get it! :sad2:

Nick is Nick....he wasn't too distraught over it. The rehearsal space is in an old mall that is pretty much defunct, but from the window of that old store front, he could see into the children's play area of the large fitness center and he watched the kids play Mario Brothers on TV.

That's so sad. :sad1:

Congrats to Lisa and Jordan!

Two champions in one day, that's pretty good!

OM, I've got one of those too. And I can tell you at age 16 (in a month), she has gotten a tiny bit better. She remembers some things she's told. I have hope that by the time she gets to college, she will remember most, and won't need her Mom to remember for her.

Good morning everyone!

:grouphug: to Karen (OM). I know you have been running all over town with the kids in 2 different plays. Don't beat yourself up too much. Sounds like Nick did just fine. Now if he had his own cell phone. :rolleyes1

Sorry - just couldn't resist after Mike's article that time.

I know, I know. And we've looked into them recently. (this isnt' the first time the munchkins finished early, but usually it was 20 minutes early, not two HOURS)
Anyway, we've looked at the Disney phones....the family plan. But it's $60 a month. I have a contract on my phone until August of 2008 so it's not like I can get out of that easily ($200 fee)

And really, the only bad time will be this next week with Nick's tech week. Kt's tech week the following week won't be bad b/c her rehearsals always go until they say they're going to go.

We've tried to tell Nick to find an adult, ask to use their cell phone to call our cell phone. But he's a freshman in "man college" and that would be like stopping to ask directions.

I think we'd get the Disney phones now if I didn't have a contract on my plan, OR they were cheaper, OR this wasn't a problem that is going to be over with in a week or two.

(sigh)

How about a pay as you go phone? I use that as my phone. I use cingular. calls are 25 cents/minute. I think my phone works with as little as $20 and any unused will expire in 3 months or $100 which doesn't expire. They have other pay as you go options.

All this is why we bite the dust and got the kids both cell phone. We looked at Disney, but ended up with Sprint for the family locator. Love being able to GPS them.

HOWEVER, the phones only help out if they have them and they are turned on. There have been many times that we needed to call the kids, but their phones were off or they needed to call us, but the phones were at home in their bedrooms where they would not lose them.

Poor Nick! But so NOT a bad mom....that's happened to all of us. Megan & I had pagers back in the "old days" and it helped some, but not as much as the kids having cell phones now.
I like Monica's idea of getting a pay-as-you-go, and only using it for times like these. I could definitely see Jordan at that age, just sitting there waiting, and not asking anyone to use their cell phone.

Mary...I loved your report. It all sounds so wonderful! I try to picture it in my head.....but I don't think I can possibly do it justice. Anxiously awaiting Mark's pictures!

Congrats to Lisa and Jordan!

For a minute there, I thought you were talking about me.......:rolleyes1

Congrats to the girls on their accomplishments!!!

Checking in from Charleston, SC. Lisa competed yesterday and had a very good meet. She was 9th on the Vault, 3rd on the Bars, 2nd on the Beam and 2nd on the Floor. Overall, she was 1st on the all around. Bugs (her friend who went with us at Christmas time on the Wonder) was 2nd. They were very happy.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Yipppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Congratulations to Kisa and bugs.....:grouphug:

This isn't fun - I know someone's out there!!!

Sorry - We were not - we were :beach: below the water about the time this milestone came up...

Great dive too......although cold underwater - warm on top...

We saw a huge turtle about 300 lbs....and a goliath grouper....must have been 500 pounds, interesting corral formations and a neat morray. Sam has some good pictures I intended to post yesterday, oh well, later....

Welcome Back Mark/Mary/Bear...the trip report is awesome...

Must read it again when I am awake...now, it is time to head north again, Vero Beach, but alas no visit to the DVBR...:wave2:

Good morning! Still coughing here and with a slight fever so I guess I get to extend my vacation by another day. :sad1: Yuck!
