Thanks Ang, we're only going to be there for 1 night. We'll get off the cruise Thursday morning and drive to Hilton Head. That will give us the afternoon and evening there. Then we'll drive to Charlotte the next day and hit some of the race shops. Saturday morning we'll drive home.

Just thought it would be a nice way to check it out since we've never been there. Did the same with Vero back in 2004. Stayed one night before our December 2004 cruise. Not much going on at the resort but it gave us a good feel for it. In fact we are going back to Vero for a couple of nights this December.

OHMinnie, I hope today is a better day & you are feeling better. Did the dealership flush out the antifreeze & forget to put new one in?

Ang

Don't really know. Late last afternoon they called and said they had to keep it overnight. And that they still didn't know what was wrong. :confused3

Ohminnie! What a miserable day!! Have you heard from the dealership? I'm with Angie, I think they messed up BIG TIME! :sad2:

How's your throat? Culture back?

Sending lots of pixiedust: and a big

Actually, culture never made it into the office, so it never got run. :sad2: Today my throat doesn't hurt as bad and I have a lot more drainage from my sinuses, so I'm guessing that's what's causing my throat to be irritated.

Mike had to take my car to work today. So as he was leaving I said, "Don't blow up MY car!!!" I'm such a loving wife! :) 'course, I also said, "If you break down today I am NOT coming to pick you up!!" Of course, I'd have NO way to GET there. :lmao:

I was thinking he'd take another culture today. I've had that "barely there, but hanging on" cold, sore throat, sniffles....for over a week. Just enough to be annoying and irritating, but not getting worse or going away. Maybe it will now that our weather is getting a little nicer.

Nothing worse (well, yes, there are a LOT of things worse) than being one car short......hope they get his fixed soon.

After the nasty way he did the throat culture yesterday, I had decided that my throat either needed to be the same or worse in order to go through that again!! :) He DEFINITELY gets the throat and gets a lot of goo. :) Blech.

Mike called the shop. They said they had the thing running all morning. And someone took it out for a 30 minute drive. And no problems. They wonder if maybe there was some :confused3 big air pocket :confused3 in the system that caused the problems. They were going to let it run a few more hours and see what happened.

Ok, I JUST filled it up with cheap gas on Wednesday evening ($2.15 a gallon) and now gas is $2.39 a gallon! :scared1: And they are using it all up!!!! :lmao:

What this means in the end is that I should clear my schedule on Monday so when Mike gets stranded on the way to work I can be available to pick him up. Better get $63 ready!! :lmao:

OM, I can sympathize. Stuff has been happening here all week. Just bad luck all around. To the point that I stopped and bought a PowerBall ticket today. Hey, it's got to mean something!

Not sure if any of you can offer suggestion but thought I'd ask. Bruce & I are celebrating our 10th anniv. in Oct. Any suggestions for a long weekend getaway? I've been looking at some places within driving distance of ATL. I've also thought of a quick cruise. Thought maybe some of you in GA, FL or SC would have some suggestions.

Ang

Hopefully this is not a double post. I tried this morning, but got an error message.

I saw this on the Fineliving channel and have been saving it for a special occasion. It has not happened for me, but maybe for you.

This is from their Romantic top spots:

#7: Gastonian Hotel
220 E Gaston St
Savannah, GA 31401
912-232-2869
www.gastonian.com
Cost: $215 to $415 per night. Picnic baskets are $40 for two and include blankets and chairs
The private carriage ride costs $75 for two and takes about one hour.
Owner/Innkeeper Anne Landers bought The Gastonian in 1996 after it was refurbished for $1 million. Its most requested room is Caracalla Suite, with opulent period furnishings.

and hre is to better days of :drive: :drive: :drive:

Sharon, I know where you are going fr a special date....

checking out - good night...

Here's the update on the truck:

Went to pick it up. There was no charge. But the service record only said "vehicle towed in for overheating---unable to reproduce condition in shop."

No mention of testing pressures (like they said they did) No mention of adding 2 gallons of antifreeze (like they said they did). Looked like a definite case of the shop doing a CYA.

So Mike and I did our OWN CYA which by FAR trumped their CYA.
We traded it in! HA! We go the absolute HIGHEST value you can get from Kelly Blue Book (considering it just had major maintenance, new back brakes and new tires). Of course we didn't mention we just got it out of the service department. Why should we? There wasn't anything wrong with it??? Oh, and for our trouble, the service department had detailed it, inside and out....so it was in PERFECT trade in condition. :)

HA! :)

Mike is now the proud owner of a Toyota Highlander. MUCH better gas mileage than the Sequoia, that's for sure!

Good morning everyone! Karen & Mike - congrats on the new truck! Didn't I just type that - oh yeah on the other thread. :lmao:

OM - Great decision on the truck - definitely sounds like they were CYAing big time......

This weekend is just another example of why Sharon is not impressed with my parenting skills.

Matt left Friday for a JROTC competition. He took a bag of clothes and a sleeping bag. He drove the Jeep to school. Took the bus to the competition and will be home tonight.

We don't know where he went. We don't know what time he is coming home. His cell phone is not on.

I hope he comes home soon or I am in trouble. :guilty:

I guess I should have paid attention when I signed all the forms.

uh oh - I'm alternating between :worried: and :lmao: looks like you might have use of that hotel in Savannah after all!!!

Hi everyone. Things have been really crazy, so I haven't checked in a couple of days.

Karen -- hope you are feeling better. Congrats on the new vehicle.

We started another 3 day swim meet last night. Ashley did fairly well last night, and okay today. She swam the 200 IM in 2:33.11 (taking off two seconds) and then swam the 400 IM in 5:30.29 (taking off 7 seconds). She placed 5th and 3rd respectively. Today she swam the 200 fly, 200 breast, 50 breast and 50 fly. She only had her best time in the 200 breast by 2 seconds. One more day tomorrow (yeah)

My aunt's funeral got pushed to next Saturday, so it looks like i am going to San Diego next week after all. To get a cheap ticket, I am having to leave on Thursday and not get back until noon on Monday. Timing is terrible, since our trip to Florida is only 4 weeks away.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!!

Sharon should be used to this by now. Sounds like a repeat of when he came back to the US from Costa Rica and you lost him.

Congrats, Ohminnie! My favorite scent....NEW CAR! Don't tell Jordan, she wants a new truck. Not happening.

My brain isn't working tonight....what's CYA?

The cold that has been hanging around finally made a decision to get worse. I woke up feeling really lousy, and to make matters worse, I must have slept funny, because I think I have a pulled muscle in my back. Hurts to even take a deep breath.
I hope it goes away soon. Jay & I are taking the kids to San Francisco on Thursday. We go up late Thursday, staying at the Fisherman's Wharf to tour around, and come home late Sunday. Jay's idea....said it's for Valentine's Day. :faint:
I think that more than makes up for Mother's Day dinner at Taco Bell.
