Oh, the penguins are too cute for words. Nick got those cookie cutters for Christmas (luckily Mike's step mom taught me how to make cut outs this year otherwise they'd sit in the drawer unused!)

Check out what I got from Amazon.com the other day (used the bowls to make O'hana potatoes today to take to Christmas dinner tomorrow)

and....

Those are really cute. I gave my friend who loves penguins some chocolate penguins for Christmas...and some of those window gel ones, too!

Hi all. hope everyone is having a nice evening. I am so glad it is Friday night. We just had a nice dinner with salad, salmon and baked potatos.

Dale left this morning for the area band competitions in Odessa. I hope the weather holds out until they get home. The roads between here and there have been pretty icey.

Ashley has a friend over and they are back playing. I think I can go take a nap.

I wish him luck, in both the competition and the weather!
Ours took a nasty turn this afternoon. The sky almost looked like it could snow. Rain and a lot colder!

Should have had those for Nick's birthday. Instead he just got a season pass to Kings Island and Cedar Point (combo pass) ....now why can't WDW/DL do that????

I ordered them from Garnet Hill, but theirs are only available at Christmas. They can be ordered from L.A. Burdick, though. And chocolate mice, too.
The penguins are filled with lemon ganache. My friend said they were too cute to eat, but she did eat them and said they were wonderful.

I want to hear the African American Santa with a Pirate Patch story!

We always go to the same mall by my parents to see the REAL Santa. He LOOKS like Santa, he's gentle and kind and knows a bunch of different languages (something like 7 or so) PLUS sign language. He's a gem. Well, I called my mom this year to make sure he was still there (no point in making the drive up for some "fake" Santa....

and they found out Santa had horrible heart disease and had a quadruple bypass and was told by his doctor "no long hours, no lifting kids, no being Santa at a mall."

So I told my dad, no big deal, there is a Santa at our local mall we'll go there.....I said "he's black and wears a pirate patch but that's alright."

We ended up going to Cleveland anyway b/c my parents have gone with us to see Santa EVERY YEAR since 1994 and I didn't want to deprive them of that.

Here's a picture of the kids with the REAL Santa from a previous year:

He DOES look wonderful! When Megan was itty bitty, we had the real Santa. Must have been before he moved to Ohio. I think he was still here when Jared had his first & second visits, but after that, we never saw him again.
And my kids knew after that, that the other guys were only Santa's Helpers!
They'd met the "real" one!!

Sadly, I cannot give Ohio credit for having this Santa. He actually lived in (gasp) Michigan. He never punched the kids or made rude jokes when they wore their OSU stuff though. That was good.

Crap. Mike has something on this computer that automatically spell checks. If something is wrong, it has a squiggly underline under it. Then you click it and it gives you options for what you wanted. I spelled architect wrong and instead of choosing "architect" from the list, I accidentally clicked "add to dictionary."

So if I start calling them archetects, you'll know why.

Is that a pig? How scarry is that. I call animal control when we have random dogs in our yard. We have a Great Dane that likes to roam the streets in our neighborhood. Talk about scarry when the kids are out there playing and this huge dog comes up. I found out it resides in the development behind us.

Yes, it's a wild pig....javelina. And they are dangerous. I used to hate to let the kids out of the fenced yard, for fear one of these would be around. This one was only a couple of feet off the back patio. There were about 5 of them, but all the others ran away when I opened the back door.

I wouldn't be too happy if some big dog were wandering around, either.
