I talked to Mom tonight. Dad did NOT call the oncologist after I talked to him the other day. She said he still "isn't ready".......

So, we finally made it to see "POC 2". WOW, I could not believe the creatures. How DID they do that? How utterly disguisting!!!!!

Jim - watch out for those when you dive the wrecks!

Good Morning Everyone!

We had dinner with friends. We had smoked ribs, chicken and sausage. John experimented and made chipotle potato salad. For dessert he also made a strawberry rhubarb custard torte out of rhubarb which my parents brought down earlier this summer.ymmm!!!

We kid swapped and the 9 yr old girls slept over at our house and the 12 year old boys stayed at the friends...Decided I like it better when the boys are at our house. It's quieter. They pry themselves away from electronics only long enough for the bathroom and food.

To be fair, the girls did go to sleep around 10.. But, it was early this a.m. when they were up...John is off to get doughnuts for breakfast. Just what they need more sugar!

Yes, we built a fire in a waterheater pan in the drive way, cooked hot dogs. They brought shrimp to go with the hot dogs. What a great meal!

Why not just use the grill like NORMAL people? (Oh wait... that would require NORMALCY)...

We did BBQ chicken last night... (On the GRILL... not in a waterheater pan)... then went out on the bike for a few hours (thankfully, the rain that was headed our way disappeared)... we're saving the shrimp for the FSU/Miami game tonight.

I'm working today... BORING!!! The St. Louis mothership is closed, all of the people who I deal with are off today... so... I might have to lurk on the CB today- its always good for a laugh.

Now, I was born in the south but have never heard of one of these items being used to cook hotdogs?????

Not quite!
I didn't know what they were either, so I had to google it. From what I can tell, Jim is a total redneck!!!!

Water heater pans sit under the heater and collect water from leaks or overflows caused by excess pressure in the tank. The pan has an opening in the side for a drain hose to carry away any overflow water.

Great. A U TOP with Irene (which is ok) and my redneck friend! Who, btw, STILL hasn't told me when he'll be in Columbus---I'll take that as a sign!

It was sad news that the Crock Hunter - Steve Irwin died - from a stingray stab to the heart. The later news reports say that he had cornered the stingray and it lashed his barb in his heart. How terrible.

JIM - WE HAVE THESE WONDERFUL INVENTIONS - THEY ARE CALLED POTS.....YOU USE THEM TO BOIL WATER AND OTHER LIQUIDS IN....THEN YOU CAN DEPOSIT CERTAIN YUMMY'S LIKE SHRIMP AND HOTDOGS.

Wow, three pages to catch up on! This thread still has life!

Stacey, I like those little carts you can get at the airport. They're $3 if you can't get quick help from the Hyatt. I think it's easier just to get the cart and load the luggage on it as it comes out.

Monica, loved the MOB site. Especially the pages for each band section, where they explained why their section is the coolest.

Kevin is working today. He always goes and works on holidays when we're in town, says he gets more done because the phone isn't ringing. He usually takes off early, though.

Too bad about the diving, Irene. Holiday weekends are just crowded everywhere, aren't they? Even in the ocean.

That story about Steve Irwin is so bizarre. Cornering a stingray? Obviously, not very smart. Sad for his family, he's got two young kids.

I knew what the water heater pan was, since I've had to drain ours more than a few times.....I just hope Jim bought one at the store for the sole purpose of cooking in it!


Really sad about Steve Irwin, but I'm not surprised. There were lots of other times that he put himself at risk, and I'm surprised that he didn't get killed a long time ago. People need to respect nature.

But it is a shame. He really taught people about animals and I think that any time someone knows more about an animal they will do more to protect it. From what I am reading on the internet, it sounds like he had cornered a stingray and the stingray felt threatened.

Exactly. I don't care that he wasn't charged for taking his baby in there, but it was stupid and irresponsible. That's how "accidents" happen.
He spent his life "threatening" animals...just by intruding into their envinronment.
Granted, I liked watching him....and it is still sad and shocking.....but I can't help but think something like this was bound to happen.
