for a small container of popcorn and a 12 ounce coke at Animal Kingdom for grandson. $10.00 for a burger at Rainforest Cafe without drink, french fries or dessert. GRR.

Crazy isn't it!

Check out our experience at Knotts Berry Farm:

Went to get in line - estmated 1.5 hour wait time
Had an employee checking at line entrance - no food allowed water bottles only

Part way through the line - guess what... vending machines
$3.00 for a CAN of soda - $1.00 for assorted candies!
(ie small bag of M&M's)

I actually wrote the letter I usally just threaten to write on that one! (no response yet by the way)

I pay that much for a popcorn and small drink at the movie theater here in town...... someone is making a ton of money.

But the memory of doing WDW with your grandson though is.....priceless, no?

LOL, Dan! Thats how I thought the original post was going to end. :)

Its true Disney is expensive, but most things are...and at least the Disney experience is worth it. ;)

I agree with Mermaid. If I can get a soft drink and some popcorn at the movies for that price I feel like I've gotten a bargain  Prices are crazy but we keep paying :)

Yeah but now that we are retired and no longer have the big income and considering how much I have lost in the market I have to be careful. We live 35 minutes from Disney and I take him often, but if I have to spend $100 every time (and I do) plus the cost of the annual passes, it takes the fun out of it for me. He has to stop asking for everything. I have always thought it was not pleasasnt to bring sandwiches, etc., but I am thinking.

Perhaps this would be a good opportunity for an economics lesson for your grandchild. Determine what you are comfortable spending on those outings. Have your grandson help with the allocation of that money. If you are not staying late at the parks, perhaps you could eat your evening meal off-site - or a a less expensive restaurant. It's not easy to say no, but our kids have become conditioned to it. Perhaps everyone could share one popcorn or pack cereal bars for snacks. Our kids want to go back to WDW. We have explained that we are trying to save up for the trip which means not eating out several times per week, not buying trinkets at every outing... They really have stopped asking.
