Just a quick report on the 5/17 cruise. IT WAS MAGICAL!!!
Had some people seasick on Thursday (seas were rough); but everyone seemed fine by Castaway Cay on Friday.
The DIS was mentioned indirectly at the Castaway Club Reception. Captain said something about upcoming plans, or something to that effect. Cruise Director Rick got the microphone and said, "Now don't all you people go posting on the message board." Then he commented on a couple who had been on 27 cruises and had 7 more booked for next year. - We all know who that is!!
Only thing anyone would say about new ship is "there are plans. They are looking into things."

Glad to answer any questions I can. Have LOTS of wash to do now.

Hi Fran...Glad you had a MAGICAL time. Carol (Darwin 91) just got back also.

I was very sad all week thinking I was suppose to be on the cruise this week.

When did you rebook for? I rebooked in March, but may have to reschedule it again after the school calendars come out in August, have to watch those state tests.

Joanna

We're back in Atlanta from 5/17 Magic. I saved all the Navigators and am going to try to re-create menus, list of movies, etc. I'm sorry I didn't get to meet all the DISers. But did meet a few! Hope you had as much fun as we did. Will put a report and pictures up soon. We were in a party of about 30 - 40 with a wedding on Thursday in Sessions. My SIL was the minister and was affected by the rough sea day, but all went fine, very beautiful. The brides maids tottered and swayed a little down the aisle. But for most of us the weather that day was a minor trouble as the rest of the week was so glorious and MAGICAL!! This was our first cruise of any line, and Disney has totally spoiled us. I will gladly answer questions that might help other first timers.

Could you report on the movies currently playing?

Welcome back! Sorry about the weather! Here it has been gloomy and overcast all week. Hopefully your weather beat that!

We saw "Sweet Home Alabama", "Holes", "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets", "Chicago" (the best!!)

Also playing were "Bringing Down the House", "Lizzie McGuire", Piglet Movie, maybe one more. There were movies constantly running on TV too, one channel for Disney Animated movies, and another for ones that are on video now... "Signs" and "Maid in Manhattan" were just a couple out of about 20. Will finish unpacking and get my list in the morning.

We also just got back from the 5/17 Magic.....Shangai Nights was also playing onbord.

We had a fantastic time....will post a trip report soon with pictures. WEather was awesome all week with a 15 minute rain shower in St. Thomas.

Hi MJ!

Sorry you are back - but that's the sad part about cruises - we all have to come back to our "reality"!

Glad you had a great time and weather! The sea and weather were also great during our 5/3/03 cruise. I think May is definitely the month to cruise!!

Good luck with the laundry and cooking and cleaning routines!

Rae

welcome back MJ~ Did you have a nice birthday on board???
Waiting for your reports and pictures.... any new "shoe" pictures this time??? That picture reminds me of my daughters' room... she has that many shoes herself.

jeanny

No new show pictures. This time my DD shared her cabin with two college friends and they were quite conservative with their shoes!!!

I was so impressed that they found a spot for everything in the cabin.

Actually the porter commented to me that 12 pieces of luggage for 11 people was very good packing....she said she usually see about two suitcases per person, so what we had was quite good!!!

Mom takes three (two large and one medium sized). Michael and I do one medium sized one a piece! Don't even ask me what she brings - I think she even packs the Kitchen sink!

Rae

Rae, I must pack like your mom-I bring EVERYTHING just in case. My parents will have 1 medium for both of them--I don't know how they do it. Beth

MJ, Did you see anyone sick on the cruise? I saw a post about norwalk again. If they cancel our cruise I'll go crazy!!!

I know there weren't any ill on our cruise (5/3).

I think a lot of time people overdo the heat, the alcohol and the food and miss out on quality sleep - so something has to give and that could be the immune system! Just be careful and wash your hands well with soap!!

Rae

BethA - did not "see" anyone sick on board; but heard some folks were seasick on Thursday. Seas were a bit rough. I put on my SeaBands and was fine. BTW, SeaBands are for sale on the ship in different colors. All I found at Walgreen's was grey.

Joanna - wish you could have been with us. We rebooked for 12/11/04. Have some family things coming up next year and have been wanting to cruise around the holidays. Only problem is it's going to be a looong countdown.

fran

Sea bands do work well! I also take Bonine - because I like to have double protection!!!!

Hi everyone!! We're back along with Laura & Mark. We stayed two nights at Port Orleans Riverside & just got back from there today May 26 which is Laura's birthday today--27! She did great on the cruise with her pregnancy. We all had a FANTASTIC TIME! Bill & I have booked again on the May 15 Eastern next year! So that way it's not so sad to be back home. I just dread what's waiting for me at work tomorrow! Haven't even started unpacking yet--that's how addicted I am to the boards! Better go for now!

I encountered nobody who was sick or saw any signs of sickness at all on the 5/17 cruise. My DD did say she saw a crewmember spraying something on the Atrium carpet at one time. But that was it.

The only thing I miss is that the drink station on Deck 9 is no longer 24 hours. It closes about 11:00. I would often take a walk up on deck around midnight and would crave a nice cup of ice water.

One incident was saw at the drink station could have easily spread germs if not for the quick action of a CM. A young boy had his refillable mug and had his mouth on it drinking...he finshed what was in it and then put it under the ice machine for more ice. He over filled his cup with ice and then decided to pour out some ice...instead of pouring it in the garbage he poured his ice into the large cooler of ice that was also put out for guests. The CM tried to explain that he just contaiminated the whole cooler of ice and he should not have done that. The kid could have cared less. The CM took the whole cooler of ice away and brought out a new one. DCL is very serious about stopping the spread of any viruses.

We are completely unpacked, back at work and wishing we were still on the ship.

We had a wonderful time we have booked Dec. 2004 (temporary) until 2005 dates come out. We will be going in May of 2005, due to us having a baby this year. My parents have volunteered to keep the baby when we go, which will give us a nice vacation.

I had no problems with my pregnancy and was very suprised that the 8 to 9 foot seas didn't bother me, instead soothed me on Thursday. :)

Friday I started having a sore throat and I have come down with a little cold, which could have been from all the snorkling I did. I tend to get ear infections when I snorkle.

I feel a little of the rocking of the ship now, but it is going away.

We heard from several CMs, including Donna, the reservationist, that they are looking into new ports of call (St. Lucia, Antiqua, and Porto Rico). She said we should know by June or July for sure what will happen. If that is true and is happening in 2005 then we will be going on that Eastern cruise in 2005! :)

I am so excited we get a ultrasound tomorrow of our baby! Who knows we might be able to tell the sex.:)

Again, we can thank those alert CM's for their efforts!!!

Now I'm paranoid about drinking from the drink station. If one kid was caught doing that, think of how many go unnoticed. This is just another reason I don't like the mug idea. Just my opinion, but I always thought the sticker cards were better. The mugs are just passing along more germs to spread...kids have access to mugs, could use someone elses by mistake, not washed properly, etc. Good thing the CM caught this incident, maybe they'll post a sign or something so it's clear which container is which.
