5/15/2011 - Disney Dream 4nt Bahamas - May 15, 2011

:flower3:Happy Mother's Day everyone!!!!!:flower3:

Just saw a news blurb about the shuttle launch - they are now saying that the launch will not happen prior to the 16th - so traffic will not be a concern for us the day of embarkation. I was secretly hoping it launched on the 15th - but no luck there...

:dance3:Figuring out a meet and greet... Haven't had many takers to my idea of a 4:30ish meet, understandably so - I realize now that it would be putting folks who have the early seating in a time crunch:scared:...

Someone else recommended 3pm at Currents which is on deck 13. This will work for me, and as of right now, this is my plan. Hoping this will work for everyone, and that folks are able to come by and say hello!!!

:yay:one week to go!!!!!

I'm late joining...wish I had found you sooner. We are getting so excited for our 2nd Disney cruise (Wonder-2007) although it is the first time for our youngest DD5.

Here's our info for roll call (the link to the form didn't work for me)
jenmen - Jennifer + DH Eddie, DS14 Ashley, DS10 Kaitlyn, DS5 Taylor - Arlington, TX - 8172 - Main

Sorry - that was me - I disabled the form since we had closed out the FE signups, and we're not really using the cabin info for anything else, but I'll add you to the first post!

Ugh - the last minute shopping is killing me! Ordered a swimsuit and a couple skirts from Lands End that they said should arrive here in time, and got the shipping link today to find that it will arrive AFTER we leave! So I got on chat with them and she's 2 day expressing me the order again, and all I have to do is leave a note for the UPS guy to refuse the other shipment. Lands End has always been super to deal with, at least.

Ran to Justice to check out a couple things and walked out over $100 poorer and that was WITH a 40% off coupon. It's this bad at 9, I have no idea how broke I'm going to be over her wardrobe when she's a teenager.

At least I wasn't tempted by anything else at Old Navy when I stopped off to return some stuff!

Does the car service provide a car seat? We are considering using a car service but I don't want to bring my car seat on the cruise. We will have a car because we are driving down but my parents are flying in the night before and I'm not sure we will all fit in the Camry with our luggage.

The car service we used (Happy Limo) offers car seat rentals for $5. We're renting one for our DD 4, but bringing one for our DS 2 because he is constantly getting up and down on the airplane if we don't have it. Thankfully when Babies R Us was having a sale I bought a very lightweight relatively thin car seat for about $60 just to use for travel. The Graco one we've carted around before is HUGE and VERY Heavy. I think it will be a lot easier this time with the lighter seat. Our DD is old enough to sit in her seat on the bus and plane without trying to get up constantly, that's why we just decided to pay the $5 and rent one for the trip to the port.

:dance3::dance3: One more week!:dance3::dance3:

I can't believe it's almost here!:woohoo:

Just finished getting all of my FE stuff yesterday. I'll be working on door magnets and packing this week (in between working). I'm off work tomorrow, so I plan to take care of the majority of stuff then. DD(17) has prom on Friday night and we're leaving very early Saturday morning so we can get to Cocoa Beach that afternoon. I definitely plan on doing nothing but relaxing on this cruise!

Ahhhhhhhhhh, only one week from today....Disney Dream, take me away!

it's been a horrible two weeks, first dealing with sick dog, then DS got strep, then DH got sick, THEN, had to put my precious Max to sleep, NOW I'm on day two of the crud everybody else had (sore throat, sneezing, stuffy, just plain icky). Good thing is, it should all be over with by Thursday when we take off for FL. My throat feels better, but I might run in tomorrow for a quick strep test, just to be safe. (one thing thats great about the military facility here, you can just go into the family clinic with no appt and have your throat swabbed and be on your way....they call in a prescription if it is positive). I MADE my DH do that last week since DS was positive, but DH was negative.

I did drag myself to the mall with DH yesterday...I HAD to find a Remy dress. It's funny, I found this pretty silver shrug on sale at Macy's for $12 (regular 50) so I bought it, thinking if I found a black sleeveless dress, it would be pretty. I finely found a tea-length light purple dress with no glittery embellishments, and the shrug looked great with it! Yay! Now I have to find some pretty silver shoes to go with it....but that can wait till I'm feeling better. Oh yeah, I found a really cute pair of gold crystal skull earrings for pirate night too. :rotfl: I have a pirate scarf from Pirates league I think I'm going to outline some of the images in gold glitter, to make it a little different.

I can't believe how much time has gotten away from me. I normally would have been packed for a week, and just relaxing by now.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all! We will try to make 3:00 at Currents, unless another time comes up that more people can make. That should give us time to eat lunch, try to get ressies for Palo brunch, and settle in cabin.

Hope all you Moms are having a great day! See you soon!

If you plan to use a car service, I advise you to book it soon. I called last week and neither happy limo or fl tours could pick me up at the time I wanted. Pricing wise I think they are all around the same. Some have a higher price but no extras and other don't. I ended up finding a new company to use.

We originally booked a town car service (locked in the rate before gas prices started going up, so it was a pretty good deal) but then I found a good car rental rate for less than we would pay for the town car service, even with parking and gas factored in, so we are driving ourselves, and will be able to get to the port early and then get off the ship and be on our way to WDW afterward without too much hassle (hopefully).

My suitcases are lined up in the foyer and we're 95% packed. Just need to throw in the last minute toiletries and electronic items. Each of us is taking one rolling pilot case only - this is the lightest we have ever traveled! I might just have to ship a box home afterward too, just so we can enjoy having nothing too much to cart around.

I just have a couple questions before we leave, since this is my first cruise ever! First, what do we need to wear to dinner? Can my 2 year old wear nice shorts to dinner or must he wear khakis?
Secondly, I never received any type of tickets for the Disney Transfers to the port, should I have something or will our names be on a roster when we get there? Also, I chose to arrive at the port between 10:30-11:00, so what time do you think we should catch the bus or will they tell us that at the airport? We are staying at the Hyatt in the airport and am not sure what we should be doing the next morning.
Thirdly, does anyone know anything about Iphone use when on the ship? Will we be charged for searching the internet or using apps if we use the wi-fi on the ship?

The dress code for kids is pretty lax, so I don't think you'll have any issues with shorts for a 2 year old. It's just darn hard to find dress clothes for kids and they outgrow them so fast, it's hardly practical.

I don't know about the transfers - I've never used them. Is there anything written in your cruise documentation about it?

Lastly - the wi-fi on the ship is locked down and you do have to pay for it. Not sure you can even get the wi-fi signal on an iphone because you have to go through a web page portal to log in and have it charged to your cabin. You might want to check with your carrier about international roaming and cruise ship roaming rates for data access. My friend has an iphone and was posting to Facebook all along the Mexican Riviera on her last cruise.

So I meant to do this sooner but if any of you are still around this week... Post a pic so we can recognize each other on the ship!

Great Idea!!!

This was from 2008 - my hair is a bit longer now... and my husband's hair is no longer flaming red... don't ask - I think it was a mid-life crisis... LMAO!!!

If you see me - please say hello!!!!

I most say I am amazed and impressed and jealous of you all that have everything together. All my stuff is still in my tub. I imagine I will be spending Friday running around like a crazy person because it is pretty much the only day I will be able to get stuff done. It is a bit tricky not telling the kids and trying to find time to "sneak" to pack and buy stuff.

So are we meeting up? I guess I missed what we finally decided. Will try to find a picture tonight to post.

I'm just apologizing in advance.....just looked at the weather for our trip and it shows scattered/isolated thunder showers our whole cruise. it's all our fault....we got married at Disney World on May 16th 2009. Not sure if any of you were there, but there were record amounts of rainfall. It rained during our entire honeymoon....not just here and there, but the entire time.

Last year we celebrated our first anniversary at a nice local restaurant.....came out and it was pouring!

I truely hope they will just be isolated during our cruise....nobody's heard of a tropical depression or anything, have they?

I will get pics of us up soon....I'm on my IPad right now and don't have access. See ya real soon......and bring your disposable rain jackets!

We are leaving out tomorrow afternoon so hopefully I will get a chance to see others. I can't wait to meet you all. We plan on making it to Currents at 3:00. See you all then! Counting down the hours now!

^^How cute is Cameron!!!!!

Hey ScrappyTink - so much can change in a weather forecast that is a week out - let's send out sunny positive vibes, and that is what we will get in return!!!

It's BOTH of our faults! I am the one who was your wedding twin and spent our entire Disneymoon in a poncho. :lmao: I can laugh now!!!
