is anybody going on the Fourth of July? does anybody know of any special celebrations going on? crowds? any advice would help!!

I have been there three times for July 4th. Don't know about this year, but in the past they had GREAT fireworks set off simultaneously at US, IOA, and City Walk. They also used to have some sort of ticket you could buy for food and a reserved spot at City Walk. We watched the first year from behind Jurasic Park and other times from US. There are HUGE crowds. City Walk is wall to wall people for the fireworks.

We are going to be there from July 1 - July 5, staying at RPR. If you go to Universal Orlando's website and go to Upcoming Events and then select the month on the right, you'll see they are promoting "Orlando's Biggest 4th of July Blast". Looks like they are going to have concerts and food in addition to the fireworks display. Living in Florida I am VERY aware of the heat and crowds at the parks during the summer months which is why we usually don't go during the summer. However, this year we decided to bite the bullet and just do it. Hopefully staying on site with the Express pass will help with the crowds as far as the rides go.

so who all will be performing at the concerts, or has that been said? this should be an exciting day because we are also staying at the RPR for July 3-7 and we cant wait to see some real Independence Day fireworks!!!

we`ll be there, staying RPR 28th june to 5th July.
can you see the fireworks from the resorts

:cool1: Another one who will be there on the 4th July! We're staying HRH between 2-6th July! Glad to hear that Universal put on a good celebration for the 4th.. After hearing about the fireworks that disney put on- I was beginning to wish we were staying there instead, but feeling better about my decision now- thank you :) :wizard:

We were at Universal last July 4th. It was crowded but with FOTL of course there was no problem. We watched the fireworks from the Orchid Lounge of the RPH. They were spectacular. This year we are going from June 30 - July 5. We haven't yet decided between the RPH (which we all loved) and the HRH (to try something new.) I am waiting for better rates.

Question - my oldest son went over to the HRh with his cousin last year. He thinks that there were more teens over there. He really wants us to switch this July. Does anyone else have that impression? we have 6 kids in the group ranging in age from 14 to 21.
Any opinions would be helpful.
Thanks

You can see them, but it's not as good as being at one of the parks or City Walk. There are some low level fireworks that can not be seen from the resorts.

oops! i deleted my post because i didn't realize you were talking about universal
