Has anyone been to Disney over the 4th of July weekend. We were thinking of taking a quick trip down for 5 nights from the 1st to the 6th & just wondering if it usually crowded then. Any info would be great

Just from what I've read, it's pretty busy that weekend. We are going July 8th-15th because I wanted to avoid July 4th weekend. S

I think it's right up there with Christmas and Easter but 10x hotter ;)

Good afternoon, :goodvibes
We travelled last year from June 27 until July 5. We had prepared ourselves for an incredibly busy time. The weekend of June 27 was a Star Wars Weekend, then add the regular summer crowds on top of that. I was worried that it would be too crowded. I was surprised that it wasn't "that" bad....meaning, not as bad as I had prepared myself for. It was crowded and it was hot!! We were at the parks for rope drop every morning, returning to the hotel around 1pm. We would rest, swim and relax, then around 6pm we would head back to the parks.
We were always able to ride our choice of rides first thing in the morning without a long wait and also utilized the fast pass system as the day went on. I would definately travel again that time of the year, in fact, we are planning another 10 days in Disney at the beginning of July 2010...:cool1:
Have a great time....:thumbsup2

Here are a few pictures of the parks with the first hour or two after opening. As you can see, if you are there at rope drop, the crowds aren't that bad at all.....hope this helps,
Erin

We were there last year from June 29 - July 12 for a convention. We ended up finishing the convention on the 4th inside DHS. The crowds were shoulder to shoulder. It stayed super busy from the 3rd to the 5th after that it thinned out a bit. The traffic around MK was total grid lock for a good part of the afternoon to after 10pm on the 4th. That weekend is also known to put the parks at total capacity and the gates are closed even to resort guests.

If you plan to go at that time be mentally prepared for the crowds. The best plan would be to avoid being inside one of the parks over that weekend. The 4th would be better spent relaxing by the pool with a nice fruity drink.

Thanks for the info & the pics. We weren't planning at being at the parks during the afternoon so it looks like if we go at rope drop things would be ok. This trip was going to be more of a relaxing one anyways & since we can get a good price on Jet Blue out of Portland , Maine I think we may chance the crowds....plus rooms are cheap most of the time we are there anyways.

We were there for July 4th once. What a nightmare. Very crowded. We normally go in mid to late August and we had never run into the Brazilian travel groups before. You usually hear them coming before you see them so if you hear them, go in the other direction. LOL
