Hello,
Planning our first trip to DL for this July. I was wondering if the 4th of July fireworks are different than normal fireworks and also can fireworks be viewed from anywhere not inside one of the parks (doesn't have to be a perfect view)
TIA!

The 4th of July fireworks are different and usually run for up to a week surrounding July 4th.
The music and projections really make the show though so ideally, you'd see them in front of the castle, main street, small world or the fantasmic viewing area.

The esplanade between the two parks and the top of the Mickey and Friends parking structure are popular spots. On the actual day of July 4th, these spots get very crowded too.

If your hotel is facing the right way, that would be the easiest non-park option.

This is not correct, they do not run for up to a week. Its July 4 only. We go every year from July 2-5. The esplanade becomes packed like sardines on July 4. I do not recommend it.

Go to the top level of the Mickey and Friends parking structure. Best view outside the park.

It definitely did run for several days in the early 2010s. Maybe that changed around the time Disneyland Forever first debuted? I haven't gone to the parks in July since then so your information would be more up to date than mine.

Just offering an alternative: World of Color in DCA on the 4th of July does a special 5-10 minute pre show. It included some fireworks , but the music and projections were wonderful. We booked a dessert party. My kids still talk about it. It probably in my top 10 Disney moments.

Usually if they run the special 4th of July fireworks they run a shortened version on July 1-3 and the full version on July 4.

I personally prefer the world of color 4th of July tag with the fireworks.

Does anyone know what times fireworks would be for the 4th? I believe right now the fireworks start around like 9:30 or 9:40. Do they do an earlier show for the 4th?

They will be at 9:30 or slightly after if the parade is running late.

We will be arriving at the Grand California Hotel on the 4th, but don't plan to go to the parks. Is there somewhere we can see the fireworks from the hotel?
Would we be allowed to watch them from the roof of the Paradise Pier Hotel?

Not unless you are staying club level. They can be viewed from the balcony at the club level lounge.

The "rooftop" pool deck at Paradise Pier does not have a view to the fireworks. It's actually like the 3rd floor and it's behind the main tower.

You can either go to the esplanade (if you like that sardines in a can feeling) or level 6 of the Pixar Pals/Mickey and Friends parking structure. The trams at Downtown Disney can take you there and back.

We arrive to GCH the same day! I was thinking esplanade for fireworks, but maybe we'll go to the parking garage instead.
