4th of July at MGM?

I would like to avoid the crowds at MK on the 4th of July. We are staying at the Dolphin, so we would like to stay in the Epcot/ MGM area, and we are not sure what park to hit, or if the fireworks at MGM are anygood. We would like to see the fireworks and also like to go on some rides on the 4th. Any sugestions??? Thanks!

We'll be at MGM on the 4th--we planned this trip just so we could be there to (hopefully) see Sorcery in the Sky--the absolute best fireworks at Disney!!!

Yep, Sorcery in the Sky is worth the crowd levels.

In July 2002 we did this. It was a great day. To offset crowds, MGM opened an hour early and we were able to get a lot done prior to lunch. We had a PS at Prime Time and had a wonderful 4th of July BBQ Rib picnic platter. So much fun! We stayed for the whole day and walked up near the front of the studios to stake out a spot about an hour and a half before the fireworks. Since this is the only time to see Sorcery it was well worth it for us. Had a blast and plan to do this again over July 4th 2005.
