hi,

has anyone gotten a $49 rate without getting a postcard? i would love to get that rate!!

just wondering, Wendy::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

Yes, in a way I did. I called to make my reservation, and merely mentioned the card. The agent said there was no need to read off the offer number, he knew it by heart. So I suppose I didn't really need it.

Can you tell me what this is all about? I plan on making my reservations for the Pop Century Resort in a few days and would love to get a good deal. We are planning our trip for November 30 - December 7th 2004.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide!

My BF got a postcard and I used it to make our reservations. I think it might depend on what reservation agent you speak with when you call. I have actually called back twice and changed/upgraded my reservations. The first agent that I spoke with, when I initially made the reservation did ask a bunch of questions and required me to give her the code on the postcard as well as asking if BF would be accompanying me on the trip since the card came in his name. Lots of questions with this person. The second person I called was very short and didn't volunteer any additional information when I inquired about other promotional rates that were available for the period we are going to be there. She simply changed my res and that's it. Yesterday when I called to upgrade to a moderate resort, I spoke with a gentleman named GARRETT. He was the absolute nicest reservation agent I have EVER spoke with in my life. He explained to me all about the POR resort that I was booking for since I had never been there before. He also gave me some great tips! I made a few request for my stay and he noted them on my reservation with no questions asked.

There are probably some agents that will let you get away with more than others will. I think it's probably just the luck of the draw! Give it a try...the worst they can say is NO, right? GOOD LUCK!!

I wouldn't risk reserving a room with this rate without having the postcard in your name and in hand. There is a pin number on the bottom and they have the right to refuse you this rate and charge you rack rate without the postcard at check in.

I got the post card but it is about a month too late as we are leaving in two weeks for vacation.

good point, I didn't think about that. Now that I do think about it. the reservation agent did say it is a good idea to bring the postcard with me to check-in. He said that usually they don't ask for it but every once in a while they will. So...

...but, just a suggestion if you DO attempt and succeed at making a reservation without the actual postcard...make sure that you get the reservation agent's name when making the reservation. The reason I say this is because if you are quoted a rate and then they want to charge you rack rate upon check in-it should come back on the person that quoted you the rate. I'm not trying to sound rude or get anyone in trouble but I feel like if they are willing to make an exception for you to give you a discounted rate, and they are willing to quote that rate to you, then they should be held responsible for it. Just my $0.02. :)

It is not really a risk if they plan on staying there at the rack rate, is it? The discount would just be a nice bonus.

We got $69 (tax included, so this is the total for the night) in September with AAA. I know it isn't as good as the post card rate, but it is better than rack rate.

I made a reservation at Pop Century for Dec. 2-5 about a month ago and asked for the AAA rate and got $61.60 a night. I have only ever gotten one postcard and that was a couple of weeks after I registered in the Disney website. I hope this helps!

I just got the $49 rate without a postcard today. I had a WONDERFUL CM who I talked to - Miranda Beth. She was fantastic. Even ordered a Magical Memory thing for my DS and DD's 2nd birthdays!

We're staying at Pop Century. I already had reservations from a postcard I received in the mail for $77. I called and said my friend received a postcard for $49 for the Value Resorts and wondered if I could receive that rate instead. She found a way somehow to make it work. She was so nice!

Yeah! Just saved $62 on our room!!

How do you get those post cards sent to you? Do you have to be on a mailing list or is it just the luck of the draw? When do these post cards expire? I will be going next June--what are the chances of me getting a good discount like that?

You had already gotten a postcard..for I assume a moderate? If so, that's how she worked the magic..using that postcard code. It would be pretty hard to get themto give you a pc rate if you didn't already get one, I'm betting.

Bobcat, can't you call back and try to use the postcard rate against your existing reservation? I know this works often with codes, so perhaps it would also work for you?

Yes, we just returned in mid-June, and I now have a postcard! Oh well!

We leave Friday and the post card is good for September I believe.

The postcard I got was only for 8/28-9/29. As soon as the kids go back to school I guess attendance drops so it is incentive for some to visit. My Dd is starting kindergarden and I teach but I am tempted to figure something out for $49.

Where can you get aon a mailing list for these offers? We are going in April, which is not exactly low season, so probably there won't be any deals at that time. We have never stayed on site but would like to if the price was right. :wave2: :wave2: ::yes:: ::yes::

I believe it's a random mailing. It seems some people get several while some people (like me) have never received one! I've been to WDW several times and on a DCL vacation...still nothing!
