Those are my stats so far. I started a diet/exercise program on April 1st. I'm somewhat limited on what I can do because of my back problems but I have walked everyday but one on the treadmill. Currently I do .45 miles in a span of 9 minutes. I've been increasing my time by one minute increments each week. I've also been doing more strenuous stuff out in my garden.

So after 34 days I've dropped 11 pounds. Hmm, just another 19 and I'll be happy. Well it's a start but what I'm really hoping is that my cholesterol level will drop at least 30 points... or more!! I have another 4 weeks to go before I get my blood checked again.

Anyone else on a diet/exercise program because of health reasons? I mean as in the doctor told you your blood pressure/cholesterol/blood sugars/etc. are way too high?

I am dieting just to lose some extra pounds. I have no health problems though. Walking is great. I walk 4 days a week with a neighbor. We do 3 miles a day in less then an hour. I'm 44 y/o so this is a killer! LOL! I am also on Weight Watchers. In 7 weeks I'm up to a 20 lb weight loss! I will be at 30 lb loss on June 1st. You are doing a great job! Keep up the good work. We are worth it!

Congratualtions!!!!!! :thumbsup2

I'm working out religiously now and eating better (that's where I have the harder time - if ice cream wasn't sooooooooo good I'd have a much easier go of it!). Not because the doctor told me too, but because the mirror told me too and eventually the doctor would, too, if I didn't get something started here.

I currently have two goals. The first is my trip in August. We plan to go to the waterparks a lot. I want to walk around in my bathing suit in confidence. The second is my trip in December. DH and I are off on our own. I would like to surprise him by wearing my wedding night neglige (7 years and three kids ago....). Now, I am realistic. First of all, chances are he has no idea what I wore on our wedding night (men  ). And secondly, everything takes time. I'll keep trucking, though!

Good luck and keep up the good work!

Congratulations! That's really great! :thumbsup2

I've been eating healthy and going to Curves since the beginning of March as I have diabetes, high cholesterol and high BP and have been on tons of meds for the past 10 years and I really needed to change my life for the better. :sunny:

I am down 7 lbs (weight loss is verrry slow due to insulin injections and menopause) BUT I'm also down 9 1/2 inches and feel wonderful! My blood sugars are right down to normal levels all the time now and I really enjoy the exercise and the ladies at Curves. :)

Keep up your good work! :grouphug:

I LOVE curves! Way to go!

The weight has not been coming off like I had hoped. At 40 and having had a baby a couple years ago weight loss has been very hard. Sugar and carbs are my biggest downfall. I don't eat red meat or fastfood. I love vegetables and fruits. It has just been so frustrating that I am not the weight I had hoped I be by now. I started dieting the first of January. I have lossed about 15 pounds. So now I have decided to reduce my sugar and carb intake. Coming off sugar has been real bad. I hope this will help my dieting. My last resort is to have my thyroid tested. Why does taking weight off have to be such a struggle?

I'm in my mid 50's and had my thyroid removed nearly 6 years ago. Losing weight is a royal pain but I think I finally figured it out and it was all about taking time for me. There are hundreds, well maybe not hundreds, but many, many things I could do in the morning besides exercising. When I figured out that those other things are what got me into the condition I am now, they didn't seem all that important.

The first 2 weeks were the hardest both with the exercise and the food. Now the only time I'm having a problem is after 9 p.m. when my appetite kicks into overdrive. Low fat, low cholesterol snacks seem to be working. My current favorites are Rice Krispie treats or frozen yogurt.

Bottom line with me was I could starve myself with very little results. It's exercise that has caused the weight to come off but you have to do it Every Single Day! :yay:

:cheer2: You all Rock. Keep going. I'll be cheering for you to keep moving and keep watching that food. :cheer2:

I put on weight while I was trying to get pregnant with DD. I figured what's the sense in trying to stay thin when I'm just going to put on weight while I'm pregnant  DD's now 6 and I can't use baby weight as an excuse anymore!

I started running about two years ago and the first 10 pounds came off very easily. I still have about 15-20 to go though that didn't budge, even after training for, and completing the Disney marathon in 2005 and the half marathon in 2006. I run almost every day (at least 30 miles per week) and really don't have horrible eating habits. What I've finally found though, is that my body really holds on to the sugar and carbs, no matter how hard I exercise.

I tried Atkins last year and lost 6 pounds the first week. I felt miserable though. Headachy and queasy all the time. I started South Beach this week and feel great! No headaches at all, I haven't felt sick or dizzy, and best of all, I can honestly say that I have no real desire for ice cream (my downfall) today! :teeth: Down 4 pounds in 4 days so far. Hopefully I can keep going.

Best of luck to you...this definitely isn't easy, but it can be done! BTW, have you visited the WISH boards? Lot's of ideas and support there...
