It was mentioned in the threads below that the cabs charge a flat rate of $45 from the two closest airports. Do they charge that from the hotel back to the airport too?

Yikes! If they do charge that both ways, I think I'd just rather rent a car. I think the last time we did we paid $120 total for almost a week, for our rented car. So not only did we have transport to and from the airport, but anywhere else we wanted! That's pricey!

Yup it's each way. But in a rental car you have to pay gas (and at some hotels parking) and we didn't go anywhere but the parks for 4 days and we were super busy. I don't think I'd ever rent a car unless we were going somewhere else. Also the $120 was probably for a compact or economy car and we had 6 ppl so I guess it depends how many people you have with you (and luggage) because the van taxis are the same price as the car taxis.

We were unable to get a flat-rate in either direction in October, but the cost was at or below $45. If traffic is bad, then it could be higher, though. That's for 5 of us. If you are like me and prefer not to hassle with a rental car (we don't go anywhere else and I don't want to tote along booster seats), a taxi is nice for a higher number of people.

For a small number, I like super shuttle. There is a coupon code for $3 off each way, per person, so the cost is only $7 each one way + tip to/from SNA. I just pay the tip online when I reserve the spot so it's all taken care of when I get there. It tends to take a little longer than a taxi, though, because you sometimes have to wait for the van to fill up.

ETA: forgot to say that I read recently that you have to call ahead for the flat rate, and it's only from (not to) the airport.

Thank-you.

We plan to be there for a week and I am not keen on driving a car in So Cal. I will be there alone with 3 kids (2 teens) and I am from a small Canadian Community and the thought of driving in LA would give me nightmares LOL.

I will need to figure out how to get to the beach (have to do that at least one day) bus, taxi or if all else fails rent a car.

I've googled "anaheim taxi" and there are sites that tell you how to arrange the flat rates.

And at the Anaheim Amtrak station, I got in the cab and asked what the approximate cost would be to get me to DLH. I said "what? that's so expensive!" and he said "well I'll do a flat rate for ya, how about this instead?". He ran the meter to show me, and it was just what he estimated, but he was cool and stuck with the flat rate (and got an extra big tip). I don't know that airport cabs will do that sort of thing if you just question the rate, but it worked for me from Amtrak!
