I read a post here I think about sometimes the Wyndham having specials at $45 a night for their member program. I just signed up for the program, but does anyone know how often these specials pop up? I am looking for something in October. I have not stayed at the Wyndham but my brother has and thinks it is a nice hotel. We have to do a budget trip since we are taking a cruise the week after. I thought I'd look into this before priceline. Let me know if anyone has any info. on this rate or the likelyhood of my getting it for October.

Thanks!

I am a Wyndham By Request member and I recall getting emails about 50% off rack rate specials about 3 times a year. I can't recall what time of the year they were for though. I believe some of the Wyndham properties give 50% off for Entertainment card members. Which Wyndham are you referring to? We won a Priceline bid ($50 plus bonus money) for the Wyndham Palace in Downtown Disney about 4 years ago. I also bid Priceline for part of our June 2004 trip and got the Dolphin for $70. I would be disappointed to stay at the Wyndham Palace again although I would be happy to stay at the Dolphin. But we always stay at Disney on-site, so that may be one reason I was not impressed with the Wyndham. Be sure to check out www.biddingfortravel.com and www.betterbidding.com before considering any Priceline or Hotwire bids.

I was interested in the DTD Wyndham....but I have only stayed on property before also (Dolphin, All Stars, Animal Kingdom). I hope I won't be disapointed if I stay there. Maybe it is worth the extra money to just stay on site? Did you just feel it wasn't as nice or not as magical?

I have mainly stayed on-site as well: CBR, ASM, GF, OKW, BC, SOG and our most recent trip, this year was at OKW and the Dolphin. The Wyndham Palace was located close to Downtown Disney. We made a trip with my extended family and stayed at Shades of Green but it was our anniversary and I thought it would be nice to spend one night apart, and this is when I got the one night at the Wyndham Palace. Coming from Shades of Green, the Wyndham was a "let down". The hotel parking (non-valet) was quite a hike from the hotel lobby (so I would recommend paying for the valet). There was nothing particularly wrong with the Wyndham Palace but it was just a large hotel with what looked to be alot of people on business. It didn't have a resort feel to it and I don't remember the service being great, but nothing notably bad either. Guess you could say it wasn't "magical". I didn't try the transportation to the parks or the pools or anything else other than the room, so maybe that's why it just seemed like a regular hotel to me. If I had the choice between not going to WDW or going and staying at the Wyndham Palace, I would go with the Wyndham - it's not like it was so horrible I wouldn't ever stay there again. But I would probably pick a moderate WDW property and possibly even the All Stars over the Wyndham Palace.

Hi!

We've been members of Wyndam-by-request for a little more than a year, and I think we've had two discount offers. The most recent was probably in March for stays in the fall for $69 per night.

We've never received kind of offer for $45 per night, but you never know. It just depends on how the occupancy rates look. Check your e-mail frequently because when they do send the discount offers around, there's usually a pretty small window of time to book at the discount rate.

For our stay in late November / early December, we rented some DVC points and are staying in a 2 bedroom at OKW. That was less expensive than staying at the moderates for our dates.

Good luck!
