Has anyone ever bought from this online store?

Just curious, they seem to have some pretty good prices but I am always leary buying from somewhere I have not heard of.:confused3

Thanks for any input. :thumbsup2

Bizrate tends to like them, Yelp tends to be wary of them. Something in the back of my mind sends off warning bells: I think a few years back, they were pretty notorious for bad customer service and pushy upsales tactics. They may also have been selling gray-market goods (i.e. the "international" version rather than the US version, which means your warranty is pretty much worthless.) They may have cleaned up their act, though.

I'm not sure what it is you're looking for, but their Canon prices seem firmly "meh", compared to Amazon. I tend to shop there and at B&H.

I have ordered from them once and that was for a remote shutter release for a Canon XSi. They called to confirm my order and then sent a different product than I ordered, but it was a more recent version of what I ordered. I was a bit disappointed and when I contacted them they said they no longer had the previous version. I will not do business with them again. I will stick with Amazon and B&H.

I usually check reselleratings.com whenever I have questions about on line vendors.

Evidently 42nd Photo has generated some good ratings, over the past six months the average rating was 9.48/10.0.

I would read through the comments left by customers and then make up your mind. Good luck!!

I buy almost all of my stuff from Bhphotovideo.com
You can call them, and they know their stuff, and reasonably priced.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I recall some poor experiences with them. Definitely avoid Broadway Photo, if it's still in business.

I've been treated well from B&H and Adorama, as well as Amazon. I tend to stick with those three and usually find whatever I want from them.

I tried buying a Tamron 17-50mm for a Sony A-mount from them last month. Price was right so I gave them a shot. I even spent the extra money to have it shipped 2 day air so I would have it by the weekend. Low and behold almost a week goes by with out a word from them. I tried emailing them and got nothing back and finally got a phone call 2 days later to confirm the order. The sales guys then asked me all these questions and tried telling me the lens wouldn't work on my Sony A55 (BS) and so he recommended a significantly more expensive lens. I politely declined and he said no problem he would get it out same day. Not even 10min later he call back and said they didn't have that lens in stock, mind you they showed it available on the web site. He said he could have it in a week but i said forget it. Of course he tried pushing the more price lens before I told him to cancel the order all together. He wasn't overly rude or pushy like other reviews I have read about them however. He refunded me my money and so I went and got the lens from Norman Camera and couldnt have gone any smoother. Had it sent for Saturday delivery so I had in time for Easter. Ive also bought from B&H and Amazon and haven't had any problems with either also.
