I am 40 at the end of June this year but we are not going away on our 'celebration' holiday until August: 3 nights at a MK Hotel with concierge (any recommendations??) then 6 nights BWV Boardwalk Studion and finally 5 nights OKW 1-bed. My question: would it be too much to ask for birthday buttons at the park as my birthday was 6 weeks earlier? I know I may be 40, but am ALWAYS a kid at WDW! This is our first year of DVC membership, so we're even more excited! Thanks for any help you maty be able to provide!

I too will be 40 this year, sept. 20. and will be at BCV sept 16-23. :cool1: For MK resort my 1st choice would be GF, but cant get DW to stay there, :sad2: :rolleyes2 so I would end up at POLLY, this is OK with me. :thumbsup2 As for the button ? yes go ahead and ask for one they will be happy to help you. My DS did and it was no problem.

I spent my 40th at Disney last November and had an absolute ball. I had a lot of my friends down in Florida at the time and we all met in Epcot. My friends got me a Birthday Button and it was pretty cool having everyone wish you happy birthday. Granted, my friends also had t-shirts made up advertising the fact. The phone call from Goofy was great too.

As for the Disney Buttons after the fact, they did not give my friends nor me a hard time about it. We explained everything when we got them and they were more than amenable. Good luck and enjoy. I recommend the t-shirts.

Our last pre-DVC trip was a stay at the Polynesian - Lagoon View Concierge - and we really enjoyed it. Great location, great views, great service.

As for the birthday button, that's a very personal issue; debates on the Theme Parks board have gotten, er, a little hot at times (nothing like the 'stuffing 37 into a studio' threads, thought). The positions are pretty clearly drawn:

It's Disney, I am / feel like a kid, and I'm going to celebrate my birthday during my trip, regardless of when my birthday really was/will be. It's great to get whatever perks - birthday greetings, special recognition, desserts at meals, etc. - come with the Birthday Button.

vs

People who get the Birthday Button when their birthdays are weeks/months away can diminish the experience for those who have their birthday today/yesterday/tomorrow; if 1 out of every 5 guests has a Birthday Button, CMs simply can't offer the same level of 'magic'. "If everyone is 'special', no one is."

IMHO - YMMV
