ugggggg I'm almost 40.

We were booked for a family trip in April for a year but needed to cancel . I still have the time off and was kinda in the dumps about missing out since my AP is still good so today my partner said why don't you go by yourself. So I rebooked and am headed down in a month for a solo trip. I have done several 1 on 1 with my boys rotating them each trip and family trips but this will be a first. No stroller, no bedtimes, no homework just ME ME and ME.

Gonna drive down from PA on Saturday straight through stay till Thursday afternoon then head back. It's about. 15 hours and we usually drive so I'm gonna download some books and drive away the day.

Have a bunch of fun and relax go and you when visit and do what you want. Plus I have done solo trips and just say I wish I was pushing , for me I wish I was pushing 40 but that was long ago.:) Danny

I am right there with you. I will turn 40 at the end of June. My best friend since high school and his husband also turn 40 in the same year. For the last couple of years we were talking about going to WDW to celebrate. Then last year they decided they didn't want to but yet didn't come up with another plan. So I was ok fine I will take my dad with me on another Disney cruise but that fell through cause we were having some major money issues & I wasn't going to have the money in time. So long story short, I'm going solo to DL, because no one else wanted to go or they can't afford to. But I'm going to go and I am going to have a blast! I am not dreading turning 40. Plus what better way to celebrate turning 40 than by acting like a kid at Disney?

While I feel admit to twinge of envy for all you 40 yr olds, about to be 40 and 40-somethings, I am gearing up for a far more important milestone...my "baby" girl is turning 40 this year!

I want to brag that her mother raised her right, too. DD is choosing to celebrate her 40th year with a trip to WDW. Best of all, she wants her mother to come with her. Told you I raised her right, didn't I?

Actually, she was hoping that her older sister might come along as well, but other priorities prevailed. Meanwhile, I am delighted to be making this special trip and we are having a ball planning it. Coincidentally, we made our first ever family trip to WDW when I was about to turn 40, and our daughters were 17 and 19 years old. Times sure flies, and we have had numerous great trips, most of which have included our awesome grandchildren. We'd both love it if my our DHs and two DGSs were coming along, but we made a 12 day trip last year together so it wasn't in the financial cards again this year. Oh well, a girls' trip is pretty danged special.

We had a hard debate about staying at Disney resort or not. While we always wanted the Disney bubble experience, it turned out that neither of us were enthused about sharing a hotel room. We feel like totally spoiled princesses who like their own space (and bathroom!) as well as being able to fix a light breakfast and nibble without joining a queue somewhere. We did check into renting DVC points, but nothing in our budget could offer any real elbow room. So, we selected a nice condo in Windsor Hills and will enjoy spending the substantial savings on some grownup dining.

Maybe we will see someone on this thread celebrating the grand 4-0 during our November visit!
