live it down, like any other day. Mine is fast approaching, I just realized it's 2 weeks away. :scared1:

My best friend told me she hopes I won't be disappointed if my husband hasn't planned anything big. Now I think I might *want* something big. What's up with that?

What did you all do for your 40th? Wild and crazy? Or, mild and lazy?

Mine was last October. At first I wanted a big party, then different friends kept saying they'd be out of town that weekend, etc., so finally I said screw it and DH and I went to New Orleans for a long weekend. It was a blast!! Have fun whatever you decide to do!! :goodvibes

For DH's I surprised him with a trip to Vegas with some friends. I mean people pulled in the driveway in the morning & I said surprise!! It was great. For mine he had a surprised party at my friends bar with my favorite band. And my BFF came in to town from Vegas she surprised me at my son's Soccer game.

I planned big celebrations for DH for his 30th and 40th and family almost ruined both. DH had a good time but it was not quite how it should have been. :sad2: I told him we are going away for his 50th. :cool2:

I hate surprises and was still recovering from DH's 40th fiasco when mine rolled around so mine was pretty low key and I was happy with that.

Do you like surprises? Do you want something big? Figure out what you want and then tell your DH or whoever you need to. Let them know -they can't read your mind. :)

Whatever you do, I hope you enjoy it and have a great birthday! :yay:

I went to Disney World! I think I'm going to try for Disneyland for my 50th...

I'm so jealous!!! That's the only thing I told my husband I wanted. I know I'm not getting it because he's really busy at work. I totally understand.

But, still, that would be my dream 40th!

Mine was in June.....

Since it was "the big one," I decided to do something different, and invite several friends and "surprise THEM."

We had an Alice-in-Wonderland-themed "UNBirthday Party" for everyone else...

I got them "It's my Unbirthday Buttons," goody bags of AiW stuff, decorated with teacups, teapots, etc...

It took a little bit of the "sting" away of my "big day," and made it fun for everyone....

I'm 3 years away from my 40th, and I hope to be either on the beach or at Disney World.

The only problem w/ my plans for Disney World is my bday is on 7/2, so it would put us there right around the 4th of July which would be super-crowded. So, I'll probably just settle for the beach!

I did nothing, absolutely nothing--no party, no cake, and only cards from my parents. Please don't consider that a complaint--I'm not into being the center of attention. Still, it would have been nice had someone (husband or children) gotten (or baked) a cake and at least paid some attention to the milestones.

This year (52), I had breakfast with Minnie, Goofy, and Donald at Cape May and spent the week before at F&W! Now that's the type of birthday I'm talking about--great fun.

My 40th isn't until June of next year. I would HOPE my DH plans something for me. Whether it's a party or a weekend away.

His 40th is next month and I have a surprise dinner at a restaurant planned for him. There will be about 25-30 people (family & close friends).

Mine is coming up in March!:scared1: Right now I am planning on going to NY for a couple of days because it's tradition but the following week we are going on a family trip to WDW and DCL Dream! I'm super excited!:goodvibes

Dh took me to Vegas for my 40th, just the two of us...my sis watched our 3 children.
It was great...honestly going anywhere for two nights sans kids would have been heavenly :lmao:

Happy 40th...hope you do something great!!!

Mine was low key- dinner out with DH - just the way I wanted it.

My friend just had a HUGE bash- dj /bartender and it was great fun! It was exactly what she wanted.

In fact we are going out again tomorrow to celebrate again. She likes to party. Me not so much.

I think if you want a big deal- go for the big deal. If you don't- don't.

I went to Disney World too! I'm lucky my birthday is in the summer and it is usually a good time for us to go. I think if you want a big bash - go for it! :cheer2:

We went to WDW too!!! We actually went about a month early because of kids schedules, and it was still magical!

PLEASE go for it and have some fun! I just went through a big health scare and it really made me see that time is precious, don't put anything off and enjoy each day!

have fun and happy Early birthday!

I spent my 40th at MK, sat and ate ice cream while watching Wishes. Took my Mom, after all where would I be without her, plus its her favorite place to be too. I went for 42 this year too, had dessert buffet and excellent seats for Wishes. Those were the best bday celebrations I ever had. :cloud9:

I turn the big 4-0 in December. I WANTED to go to WDW for my 40th, but due to unforeseen circumstances, it's just not in the cards this year. My DH told me we can go next summer, I will still be 40, so that counts. Nice, huh?

For my 40th (which was 10 years ago, I just wanted to celebrate it with my DW. I don't want people throwing parties for me. She gave me a very nice heirloom pocket watch. The same thing for my DW's 40th, quiet celebration...and a Tahitian black pearl necklace!

My birthday is in December, too, the 19th actually, and we were going to go to WDW that week for my birthday and Christmas. THEN, my DD's school decides to mess around with the Winter Break schedule, and this year they don't get a full two weeks. She now has finals the 21st and 22nd! So, there went the trip!!!
So, now we're going over Thanksgiving, and I will be celebrating my birthday then (Regardless of what anyone may think about celebrating one's birthday a month early...:rolleyes1).
For my actual birthday, DH says he's planning something, so I'll have to wait and see.:cloud9:
