Hi all,

My SIL is turning 40 on our upcoming trip to Disneyland this November. Can anyone suggest a good place for dinner, either in or outside the parks? We're staying at the hojo if that helps. Something to note, SIL isn't a fan of paying for an overpriced meal that just doesn't live up to expectations (who is I guess, right?!), so which restaurant would you recommend for a nice dinner where you wouldn't be disappointed with the food?

Thanks!!

C33 if you have connections for pixie dust. Napa Rose. Steakhouse 55. Blue Bayou. I've never been satisfied with my meals at Carthay.

my first question would be, what type of food does SIL like? Theres no point in booking a restaurant, no matter how little it costs, if the birthday person does not like the food.

For example I love Blue Bayou and its counterpart in Disneyland Paris, but many Disneyland Paris visitors dont go there as there is no chips (fries) on the menu and the dishes are French Creole / Caribbean style food which is not a popular type of food for many UK/ Irish people.

Does SIL have a favourite chain restaurant? Rainforest is located in Downtown Disney and many other chain restaurants are located in Anaheim.

For example, my favourite chain restaurant is Hard Rock Cafe, but I know that if my mum wanted to take me for dinner she wouldn't think of going there as its not a restaurant she goes to.

How about the World of Colour Dessert package, thats something a bit different for a birthday treat

Napa Rose is my first choice but may not appeal to her tastes. I've done chef counter a few times , which as a foodie is amazing but also the dining room has been awesome too.

Steakhouse 55 has a fairly wide range especially if you enjoy steak obviously and only once did I have a poor experience but recently went back and redeemed itself.

I love Blue Bayou and go every other visit typically. The surf and turf never disappoints hubby and I .

I do enjoy Carthay quite a bit but it seems people love or hate it. Hubby doesn't care for it and has been several times but I enjoy the menu quite a bit.

Ralph Brennan Jazz Kitchen is one of m favorite downtown Disney restaurants if you all enjoy Cajun inspired food.

What about making it a dinner package? Adding the experience of Fantasmic to your meal could really add to the fun. BBB is fun just for atmosphere but make sure she likes the menu of wherever you think you want to go.

McCormick & Schmicks over at the GardenWalk has amazing steak. It's pricey, like Blue Bayou pricey, only you get amazing food instead of theme park food.

Also, we love Jazz Kitchen at Downtown Disney. Always delicious.

Yeah lot of good restaurants on Harbor as well. All depends on what SIL likes.

I LOVED M&S and used to be part of their rewards program till they were bought by that larger group and they closed the immensely popular location at the CamelBack Colonade (I think it was the only AZ location). Maybe flying fresh seafood in daily was cost prohibitive, who knows.

I would say it all depends on what he likes to eat. Blue Bayou, Jazz Kitchen, Steakhouse 55, Storytellers and a few others are all good places to eat, it just depends on what he likes for a Special Dinner? :rolleyes2

My choice would be Steakhouse 55. We are doing my niece's sweet 16, and she requested S55. It is going to be SO GOOD!!!

I think Jazz Kitchen in DTD is a real crowd pleaser for maybe a little better value than some of the restaurants that are actual Disney restaurants. I have been there many times with groups of people and everybody goes away happy with the combination of good food and fun cocktails, without totally breaking the bank. In fact, I had a very nice birthday dinner of my own there a few years ago. Fun place, great food and drink. Much more fun than Blue Bayou, I think.

Blue Bayou has a lovely atmosphere. Plus if you are wearing a birthday badge they will bring a little mickey burthday cake! Check menus on the app.

We also like Steakhouse 55.....can't go wrong there and they have a 24 layer chocolate cake!!!!! YUM!!!
