40th Birthday at WDW

I'm a dude turning 40 this year....Would spending it a Disney be lame?

It would be mid-week in late March with my wife and son.
We've done MK & HS already this year, so AK, Epcot, or maybe MK again.

Any ideas on fun stuff we could do to make it diffrrent from the usual trip?

I'm going for my 40th next month. Do what you love. :)pixiedust:pixiedust::goodvibes

OP here again.....

Any idea where I can find an Ellie (from Up) shirt?

Ive got an idea....me in a Carl shirt, my wife in an Ellie, and my son in a Russell shirt.

Cant find an Ellie though....

I went for my 40th too. Had a great time. We had a special Birthday dinner at Narcoosees I had a my birthday is today pin and CM would spontaneously serenade me through out the park. In the Dumbo queue they made everyone sing...In Epcot while we were walking around.. a CM got everyone in the surrounding area to sing to me. It was fantastic..

I spent my 60th at DL and it was fantastic! The cast members and other guests provided many happy birthday wishes everywhere we went!!

We went for my 40th. (In 2009) See TR link in my post. We spent the day at MK, and lunched at WL's Whispering Canyon Cafe.

My suggestion is do something that you've wanted to do but never done. Such as eat at a WDW restaurant you never have, or a fireworks cruise, or a backstage tour. Just do something special that you will remember as "That was my 40th birthday."

Sounds like an awesome plan to me!!! Enjoy! I think it's the perfect way to spend your 40th!

We spent my husband's 40th at WDW, and it was wonderful! Epcot is his favorite, so we had lunch at Le Cellier and then wandered World Showcase. I had brought a matte for a photo and black Sharpies. In each country, we asked a Cast Member to write a birthday message in his or her home language. We got a family photo in front of Spaceship Earth. This was a fun activity and a great memento.

We also got a little pixie dust on that trip, with a surprise upgrade to an upper-floor corner room at the Contemporary, facing MK. That night we got wine and Mickey brownies and sat out there and watched Wishes.

It was one of our family's best birthday celebrations!

A couple years ago, when I turned 40, I decided to get some value out of my annual passes and head down there for long birthday weekend with my wife, my sisters and their husbands. Luckily for me, my birthday is in October, so I got to spend it at the Food & Wine Festival in Epcot, which was fantastic. 4 straight days of walking around drinking and dining in the sun without kids. It was magical ! Did a private fireworks cruise to watch Illuminations on my actual birthday, and they let us bring a fabulous 40 year old bottle of wine on the boat to celebrate. All in all, it was fantastic !

If I couldn't have done Disney, I'd probably have gone to Napa or done Vegas.

I am going down in May to celebrate my 60th with my family. We are staying in a Villa at BLT for 5 days. Doing a few parks, some pool time and ending with a dinner at California Grill. Can't think of a better place to celebrate this milestone BD!

Definitely go for it!

We were at WDW for DW 40th last May and in 3 years I want to go back for my 50th:cool1:

I spent my 50th in MK watching the evening fireworks with my DS who was 10 at the time. That was one of the best days in my life. Remember Disney is a magical place. Enjoy your special day!

I think there is still a custom t-shirt shop in the back corner of Downtown Disney/Disney Springs in the area over by the bus stops. I haven't been there recently, but if it's still there, I think that's your best bet.

Holy cr@p! What could possibly be better than celebrating your 40th at WDW? I turned 40 in August of 2014. My wife booked a special WDW trip during Labor Day weekend to celebrate. She picked that weekend specifically because Labor Day was the first day of MNSSHP, which meant that I could fulfill a dream of mine to go to MK dressed as CJS and meet the Disney CJS! This was a most triumphant moment for me!

I'm spending my 41st at WDW because I failed at planning in time to spend my 40th there. Go, have fun. Do whatever you want. I'm having breakfast with Lilo and Stitch and ending the day with fantasmic, hopefully. :)

No way! In fact, my bff and I both just went for a long weekend to celebrate our 40th birthdays. We did some fun adult stuff we wouldn't necessarily get a chance to do with the kids/family along. Then after our weekend was over my family met me down there and she went home and we stayed for another week. So I got to celebrate 11 days! :)

Nope...not lame! We celebrated DH''s 40th at WDW in April. His parents joined us as a surprise. We had dinner at his favorite restaurant Jiko and I ordered him a Donald themed cake which was brought out as dessert....it was wonderful!

Do whatever makes you happy!

So to answer your question,NO it's not lame! But there are a couple directions you can take it. I say hit AK for some manly safari action then mosey ( is that really a word?) over to Epcot for a fine brew or margarita while reflecting on your conquests in life and regaling your son on what it's like to be a tarzan-ish kind of guy like you. :) Otherwise you can go to MK and ride IASW and reflect back on scary dolls and why we all dont like them.
