I just wanted to share this with everyone. My travel agent sent me an email last night informing me of this.

*Special anniversary presentation held at Castle Stage at 10am

*Special artist appearances
-Uptown Jewelers
-11am-2pm-Jim Shore
-12pm to 2pm and 4pm-5pm-Robert Olszewski
-1pm to 3pm-Gene Gonda

-Diamond Horseshoe
-9am to 11am-Brent Reese and Costa Alavezos
-11:30am to 12:30pm and 4pm to 5pm-Greg McCullough
-1pm to 3pm and 4pm to 5pm-Jody Daily, Kevin Kidney, Dave Avanzino

*The park will be open from 9am to midnight!

Not exactly what I was hoping for but its better than nothing! :thumbsup2

In other words, NOTHING!

Still hoping to order an ornament, magnet and a pin.

I have ornaments for every five years since the 20th, but we are not going for the 40th. The 30th and 35th was really nothing either.

I'm sure the 50th will be big.

We'll be at Epcot during the day, but having dinner at Artist Point that night. Maybe we'll be done early enough to catch Wishes & see the ending.

I agree I was a little disappointed to find this out. I was at least hoping they would hand out 40th Anniversary pins to people when they entered the park. Oh well. My travel agent said there maybe more surprises but that's all she has found out about. It will still be neat to be there that day. Now for the 50th I bet they throw a HUGE party!!! party:

That would be neat! I think the admission price should be $3.50 like it was in 1971!!!!:cool1: :lmao:

This is pretty much along the lines of what I was expecting. With them only announcing "special surprises" a couple weeks ago, and nothing else before then, I knew it wasn't going to be anything big. I figured maybe a stage show and special fireworks.

I'll be doing the Halloween 5K that morning, going back to my room to shower, change, and crash for an hour or two, then heading to AK. Having a quick dinner at The Mara at AKL, then heading over to MK to catch Wishes. And grab one of the cupcakes.

appears so if the 1st post is all she wrote:rolleyes1. thanks OP for posting though, info is really lacking!

i'm sure ebay will be flooded w/merchandise;)

i'm secretly hoping that it's a 'free day' either not deducting a day from tix or along line of handing out a one day complimentary return day to the park. I have no credible intel, but a gal can dream can't she?

I could afford to go then! I already have 10 day passes but we have a day off from the parks that day. Since I did all my ADR's months and months ago I'm not going to try and re-arrange during Free Dining.

It's stuff like this that keeps me re-thinking my moniker. It's great that your TA told you about this, but why in the world (or "Out of The World" in this case) wouldn't Disney put the word out about this? I'm a (regressing) loyal Disney addict who has complained about the total lack of communication from them even though I'm an AP holder who has registered my email address with them. Apparently they figure they've got my AP money so there's no need to court me. Disappointly wrong.

The most they did was tweet a couple of weeks ago about "special surprises" at MK on the 1st. So they kinda did, but not really. Since it was so close to the date, I knew it wouldn't be anything big. I am expecting much more for the 50th.

Wow, impressive. My TA sent me a few canned "advise" emails that I know were recycled for 2 reasons... 1) Some of the info was old and simply out of date, and 2) a very famous podcast did a review of this TA and mentioned these very same "personal" emails and countdown a few years ago.

That was about it... mind you I really did not need anything from her, but I expected more.

:laughing:i've resigned myself to that fact years ago when we signed on the palm trees buying DVC, it is what it is

:confused3the only name i recognize on artist list is Jim Shore (have a couple of his pieces) but will miss him due to arrival day and not getting into park on time. Guess i'll have to google the other names later to find one we'll want to check out.

I'm really surprised they didn't bring in some special entertainment artists who could easily use the stages they do for the party events.
