40th Anniversary Fiasco- How to improve?

It was amazing being there. At first I was going to avoid it and then a co worker talked me into going. The experience of being with true disney lovers who really "get the magic" was phenomenal, not to mention meeting alot of fabulous dis'ers.
However, within the organization Kevin talked about it, there was a ton of disorganization. I've posted before about my experience trying to see the fireworks in the evening. It was not very magical.
Castmembers were phenomenal..friendly and excited, however they were not given the tools they needed to control what they needed to control.
I think Kathy mentioned there were two cute young girls trying to direct people for the fireworks. I saw the two cute young girls and they tried their best but they actually needed an army to control that crowd.
I do have to say this for as many wonderful people I met, I also met the rudest nastiest people ever. Not castmembers...visitors.
So in synopsis....Disney...should've known their fans and been prepared for the day.
Castmembers...kudos...you guys are awesome..and should get a medal for what you had to endure.
Dis'ers are fabulous and I'm glad I met each and every one that I met.
Rude people...the magic is for everyone...not just you.

Would I do it again...yes...I'd but I'd definitely be much more prepared.

A highlight for me was watching my co worker and her 80 yr old aunt sing all the words to the songs in the parade from each era. :wizard:

Love that quote! :thumbsup2

I can say "I was there" and I'm glad we got the free 40th buttons and special maps. We had gone to the Kids Race that morning, so we didn't get to MK until 11-something. I had been hoping for a pin or t-shirt but got over it relatively quickly. I thought I saw a special cupcake at noon, but I guess it couldn't have been THE cupcake that late. We rode Pirates and Jungle Cruise. I don't know if they specifically put the best skippers on for the 40th or if the CMs were excited too, but we had the BEST Jungle Cruise ride ever! Since that's one of my all-time favorite attractions, that made the day worth it for me. :)

I don't mind that Disney chose not to have a bigger celebration, I just wish this small one had a bit more organization.

I can honestly say that they didn't put the best skippers on for the 40th. We got a skipper that was probably the worst skipper I can ever recall having on the JC. Her delivery was way too monotone and it really seemed to lack any enthusiasm or emotion.

That said.... it was still a great trip. Our group in the back of the boat just had fun with our own jokes. :goodvibes:goodvibes
